of a total of so the need for unity is even greater Mr Hyde stated the north was designated a slow growth area a fact with which he had no quarrel Because of the slow growth designation council Mr Armstrong said he was b member of the works com mittee vice- chairman of finance committee a member of planning board and the in dustrial commission I now have my feet wet he added He concluded by saying he was not an outspoken critic or a conductor of filibusters but tried to make unbiased decisions and offer constructive criticism In reply to a question from former councillor Joan Smith about selling industrial land tc a private recreation club Tor an acre Mr Armstrong said the land was not suited Tor industry and would coat a great deal to make suitable Horry Levy candidate for local recreational facilities He stated he was concerned about proper planning and ensuring future development is not a financial burden on the present taxpayers In reply to a question Mr Levy said the installation of the poof at the high school would cost more than it would in the complex plus the cost of a second staff He said he op posed the location because he felt it would not be used by as wide a range of citizens We pay for the pool but the school board owns It he concluded Graham Ripley also a candidate for local council in Ward 4 said noone had ex perience In regional govern ment and noone knew how it was going to operate He warned the voters should think carefully since regional government was a bigger responsibility than ever before He said he would make no promises with one
