HERALD Wednesday November MRS D RODRIGUEZ Club Guest New Citizen The regular monthly dinner meeting of the Business and Professional Women Club was held on Monday Nov 5 at a Restaurant Speaker for the evening was Mrs Rodriguez a lawyer by profession from the Philip pines and now a Canadian citizen Mrs Rodriguez gave an interesting and Informative talk on her home country with emphasis on women and their status Mrs Chris Hornby on behalf of the Club thanked the speaker and presented her with a gift The business portion of the meeting was conducted by the president Mrs Margaret Parker Julie Atkinson public affairs convenor presented a bulletin regarding the much affair regarding women losing their status when marrying a non Indian the ruling given by the Supreme Court is being questioned and a letter sent to the local MP Jean Ruddell reported for the Ways and Means Committee and an exhibition of Arts Crafts and Collections is being planned for next spring Jean Mackenzie reported on the green paper for Equal Opportunity for Women Although this paper Is not yet Government policy the club will be submitting its views on same whether for agreement or disagreement to the provincial vice president DISTRICT MEETING Mrs Parker who was the clubs delegate to the Annual District Meeting of District Number two held in Hartley House on October and then gave a very full and comprehensive report An interesting workshop on Leadership Skills was led by some of the faculty of Georgian College on Saturday afternoon and this was followed by a buffet dinner and entertainment by a group of Sweet Adelines Sunday morning after devotions the business session was held and many Items of interest to the clubs dealt with The new assistant District Director is Mrs Mary Lester of the Brampton Club An in vltation from the Georgetown Club to hold the District meeting here was accepted Others attending from the Georgetown Club were Nora Krantz Olive Logan Mrs Olive Jean Mackenzie Mrs Sharon with Paul Presswood of Georgetown Nov 10th at St Albans Anglican Church in the Glen Following their wedding Bonnie and Paul motored to Montreal and Quebec ning home last Thursday Nov 15 to begin
