this situation Intrigued me and caused me to wonder my reasoning might be faulty As it happens the two girls were eminently qualified physically to play Both were IB however one weighed lbs and tbe other US lbs Thinking back en when started playing football when our offensive and defensive lines averaged 170 lbs think I would have accepted a person of either gender who weighed as much as these girls do The arguments both for and against malefemale Integrated sports programs are varied as the per- Some say Ihe majority of girls would be at disadvantage physically competing against males and would thus be quickly shunted aside In tbe same vein there are those who argue that lull Integration would only benefit the superior female athlete and that female programs on tbe whole would suffer Then we have the male chauvinist who still thinks of tbe female a cross between Scarlet and little Orphan Annie and regards any female Involvement in especially male dominated sports as blasphemous I
