considering pulling the regional police out of Ward Two in order to provide Ontario Provincial Police protection throughout the entire town At present CWnguacousy is the only ward receiving regional police protection although the entire town through Its regional police try Is paying for the Peel police force Mayor McMullln told the residents in attendance that the reverse was inevitably going to be true According to Bill 138 he said which set Up the Region of Peel the detachment In Caledon will be even tunlly phased out over a fiveyear period to be replaced by regional police Although the these kinds way day to day baits as we can Chief Burrows said The prime criticism of the police situation In one member of the audience pointed out Is the financing of the force and the heavy burden it placet upon rural landowners and farmers If we had to pay for education and police on only a halfacre of land we probably have anything at all to beef about But when we re being assessed on acres of land that a different matter We ve never complained a about regional police We have never complained about the OPP What we are complaining about is the method by which we have to pay for it He later commented that farmers should consider holding their property taxes until a more equitable system of lass Hon Is arrived at It may seem a little militant bat it gets results A similar method of
