Saturday evening although personally I moaned Inwardly when I saw the four young fellows that were our band I figured we were in for a really loud night but was ntly surprised after they we believe the best This only happens when you start off by having the best branches In the Zone add having the best Zone In the District and automatically you have to end up with tbe biggest and best District Our congratulatlona to these very fine officers and they can and will do the Job During the meeting the wives were on tour of the city of Brantford seeing points of Interest including the Bell Homestead and Mohawk Chapel After tbe tour coffee and lunch was waiting for them and they were treated royally all weekend Saturday afternoon all wives were In vited to a wine and cheese party parade was great as usual and there were Iota of bands and color parties but a noticeable lack of m Legionnaires wind was strong and really whipped the flags The standard bearers quite a time holding on to them One color party con sisted of John Seattle Frank Bryant and Brian Carte and we thank them for carrying group that night tbe other three have been together for two years They were really terrific and while talking- to them at intermission they said they had received bookings for Port Credit and that evening so obviously others also enjoyed them Perhaps we can get them for an evening also A lot of request they had never heard of but they are learning a lot of the older songs as their requests are for the oldies from our generation Tbe Sunday convention started right on the dot of and we were still at It at There were election of four officers to be decided along with other business It an extremely well run convention by District Chairman Bill and ViceChalrman Don who were both returned to office for another twoyear term These two men work well together and control the convention perfectly Jimmy who of ficiated at our Lounge opening la our new District Com- mander taking over from Bill Shields who has had this Job for the past two years He has done an excellent Job and will now be seeking the position of Provincial Third Vice- President at our convention in Kingston In May We wish him well as Bill has been a dedicated officer starting In his own Oakvllle Branch as District B Command and has the qualities needed to be a Provincial Officer Derek Pile was elected as Deputy District Commander to work along with Jimmy for the next two years We will see these two men In our branch from time to time and at an occasional meeting as they will be responsible for the welfare of the districts branches Tbey both said they realized the challenge they have before them and tbey will do their best for District B which incident Is the largest district In Ontario and Bill Harrison round tables sitting 10 at a table After supper Dominion First Vice President Doug McDonald installed Jim Tyndall In his new position as District Commander and Provincial First Vice President Dave Installed Derek Pile in his new position as Deputy District Com mander At one time Doug McDonald was Provincial President and be was our guest speaker at our convention meeting Hes pride and Joy and Is bis borne branch He invariably ends up having something to say about Dave Capperaulds accent dont know why he does that Dave especially since youve much In tne past few years dont need your see how we organize and run our legions Now thats really something Isnt It In the last Issue of the Summit there were a few mistakes that should be corrected now Firstly the Auxiliary Zone Rally Is on the calendar as Monday May 12 That Is wrong It is Tuesday May 13 Secondly it was mistakenly printed that Dave Capperauld was District Commander and would be running for Provincial Third VicePresident that knuw Dave know that Isnt right Dave is now Provincial First VicePresident and will be running for Provincial President In Kingston In May It was left out that BUI Shields District Commander and would be running for Provincial Third Vice in Kingston in May Luckily these men have a good sense of humor and at the weekend convention we ell had a few laughs regardless of what waa written What omitting one line can cause Hurry hurry hurry get your Imperial Elimination draw as soon as you can There very few left Although great night Isnt una June anything the Imperials set out to do Is a
