Memorial Arena Mr Colllson explained how the dreams of building a second arena In Georgetown became a reality January 1973 I remember that day well We held a meeting that day with various athletic organizations In town and asked the organizations what type of indoor facility they felt was most needed The answer most of them came back with was a pool an arena and a theatre A survey was sent around the town and the results also showed a great desire for those Indoor facilities Mr Colllson then continued to outline the procedures which were taken and the great amount of citizen and council input In making these facilities available He then went Into more detail con cernlng he arena and the Georgetown Indoor Pool Going over the brochure which the Recreation has assembled explaining the various functions and tivilles available In the town Mr red questions concerning the programs Giving details on the Sports Camp for Girls planned to begin In July Mr Colllson stated that we are meeting that axeold lnint that the recreation department Is doing tags for the boys but not for the girls Mr then revealed some future activities which the recreation department is planning Such activities would include ballet and modern Jaw dance lessons for adults formation of swim teams adult swimming In structions recreational games In the water and the formation of a shinny team I m really excited about forming a shinny team This would allow more Ice time for the boys The boys could plsy free of instruction and con stant coaching and if they wanted 1 guys on the ice at onetime operations Doug will also be Joining Cubs as an assistant leader Saturday the Limehouse Cubs had their summer camp on the farm on the Fifth Line Eleven boys were there plus two Scouts as helpers Gord Thompson and Doug Hannah and the three Limehouse leaders A scavenger hunt a hike and horse back riding were their main activities Except for a lack of sleep everyone seemed to enjoy themselves By Mrs
