THE HERALD August IT 1975 Recommends buying Glen Williams park Pending a report submitted by Hills Recreation Director Doug Collion the general administration committee will recommend to council that the town hire an appraiser to value the Cliff Davidson property In Glen Williams The 23 acres of land includes two baseball diamonds which are extensively used by Glen WilllamB It was rccom mended to the town of Halton Hills that the town consider purchasing the property for recreation purposes At Monday night a general administration committee meeting Mayor Tom Hill praised the report submitted by Doug Colilson concerning various aspects of the Davidson property This is one of the best reports I have ever seen come out of the recreation depart complimented Mayor Hilt Mr Collison explained that the report examined four main areas concerning the Davidson property In lines of recreational purposes Mr noted that all of the present Georgetown baseball diamonds arc being used to the maximum and that it would be almost impossible to fit the Glen schedule into the Georgetown facilities The recreation department also looked into the area of finding other suitable and available sites for such a development in the Glen Mr Collison explained that the department identified one other possible site however the town would be looking at a minimum expenditure of which would not In elude the cost of purchasing the property The report illustrated that at present there are ap proximately IS acres of land undeveloped on the Davidson property and that this area could be developed into a passive picnic Mr also noted that there is an extreme shortage In the Georgetown area of soccer fields and baseball diamonds The property in the Glen could be developed into the needed facilities At the present time the town does not own any other property which could be used for recrenlional development Then of course there is the financial end of the matter Thus an appraiser will look over the land and state its value Mr Collison recommended in his report that the town purchase the entire property then separate the property and sell the house and barn Mr Collison explained that the recreation department could not see any need for keeping the buildings An will be mode of the entire acres and another appraisal made of the excluding the house barn three or four acres ding the buildings North Halton Board of Education NOTICE NORTH EDUCATION AREA For former municipalities of ACTON GEORGETOWN MILTON AND SCHOOL BUS SCHEDULE 197576 SCHOOL YEAR Commencing Wednesday Septembers
