created some major upsets and produced the finest and moat exciting games of the year Two teams from each division will survive and meet this Saturday at Cedarvale Anyone who enjoys sports and the thrill of competition la invited to come and watch the kids do their The results of last weeks play Is as follows SQUIRT DIVISION Trojans The Squirts opened their playoffs with a minor upset as the second place Trojans were eliminated Mike was the hero for the Nationals scoring both goals Wayne Morrow was the only Trojan to crack the Nationals defence and score 1 Panthers The Goldenhawka made a goal by Steven stand up for the win This was a very close game featuring good defences by both teams Michael Wilde and Mark Howie played well for the Panthers as did John and Wade Kirk pa trie It for Giants Bombers 1 In a major upset the previously undefeated Bombers were eliminated when Glen Leslie cored on a penalty shot with five seconds to go In the game and Jim for the Bombers had traded tremendous fort Thtmderblrds Magpies The Magpies scored first in this excellent game Andreas Hack getting the goal Shawn tied the game Just before half time Paul then scored two goals In the second half to eliminate the Magpies Shawn Klrkpatrlck and Andreas Hack played well for the Magpies As did Maurice David and Danny for the Tigers Greg Mulr scored his first goal In the first half and the insurance goal In the second half to handle all the scoring The Tigers played an excellent game and were led by Paul Gravelie and Bruce Greg David Leblanc Griffiths played well for Hearts Thunderblrds 1 In a fast welling game Maurice David Ajaxhsd many good chances but t find the range Joe and Anthony Van played all out for as did Paul and Paul for Thunderblrds MINOR MOSQUITO Colls lilies Bobcats 1 The Gladiators put on an Impressive display In eliminating the Bobcats David Whitehead with three goals Chris Cun and Dunne Wilson with two each The Bobcats gave it a good try led by Bruce Kentner who scored their goal and Joey Sguigna However they couldnt contain the Gladiator attack Colts Dynamos The Colts advanced to the finals with this narrow win over the Dynamos Shawn connected for two goals and was the star for the Colts The Dynamos fought hard throughout he game Ken who cored the Dynamo goal and Aaron Mustard played well MAJOR MOSQUITO Spitfire Flyers Graham Hill played an outstanding game for the Spitfires scoring all three goals Richard Poet and Chris also played very well for the Spitfires Tho Flyers never quit and were led by John Slderius and David Brutton MINOR Rangers The Rangers advanced to the cup finals with this Impressive win Craig McLaughlin scored twice with singles going to Peter edema Harry DeKleer Jeffrey McNeil and Keith The Rovers gave a good try but could not contain the Ranger fire power Rover goals were scored by Mark Jameson and Dave Owls This was a hard played game The Owls took a 10 half time lead on a late goal by SommerviUe The Owls took control during the second half scoring three times SommervUlewithhiasecondG Cunningham and were the marksmen The Cougars gave a good effort and were led by Davis J Hack and J MAJOR PEE WEE Rockets l Jaguars John scored the only goal for the Rockets in a very fast and exciting game The Jaguars put on a good display but couldnt solve the Rocket defence Ken Lock wood and Paul Morrow played excellent soccer for the Jaguars as did Ian Reeks and Mark for the Rockets Kings Chargers This was a very well played game with all twenty two boys giving their best The outstanding players were Billy Taylor of the Chargers and Chris Clancy for the Kings The Kings goals were scored by Chris Clancy and George The Chargers goals came from Jamie Van Dyke and Fort us BANTAM Celtic Anenalo together a perfect defence to blank Arsenal In a well played game Gary Richardson scored two goals while Randy and Ed added singles Arsenal put up a good effort but could not solve the Celtic defence led by Andy Parent in goal Chris Deere and Ken played well for Arsenal JUNIOR GIRLS Lidjbag The wo goals by Cathy MacDonaldtoellrolnstetheSuperglrls This was very well played game with Valerie and Liz Turner turning top effort for he Supergirls Cathy MacDonald and Pam VonDyke were ho Ladybug stars Bowling Red Baron 1 Olympian The Red Barons pulled an upset by eliminating the Olympians A goal by Laura and a strong defence led by Janet and Arlene Gray paved the way The Olympians played well especially Betsy Sharpies and CJirls Junior lions Is In another cliff hanger the Tomboys managed to slip by the Junior Nationals Shelley Coleman scored the only goal of the game while the defence led by Carole Johnstonand Carolyn McCauley never let up The Junior Nationals all played well Red Barons Debutante This was the fourth
