meeting by Mrs Dorothy McLean At a meeting held by the Community Association held on Tuesday evening September In the basement of United Church with Hugh presiding It decided to hold a dance as a fund raising project Pat Patterson presented several Ideas for fund raising and alter discussing various possibilities It was decided to hold a dance at the Credit Valley Club called the Riviera in around the end of November If a suitable date can be arranged with the club and with a band to provide the music MPP Julian Reed was extended congratulations for his win In the recent provincial election by Hugh McFarlane backed by all the other members Hugh expressed the opinion that It was fantastic that an MPP should be a member of this committee Julian had his written letter of resignation ready to present as he thought some people might construe his membership as a conflict of Interests It was unanimous that he remain J only for Improvement of this community for a better Norval so should not cause a conflict of Interests Halton Hills councillors Dick Howitt and George Maltby were present for part of the meeting They both expressed the opinion that it was good to meet the members of the association and to know the alms of the They were surprised to learn that there are families who are paid members and that there arc many other interests besides the school and water although they are Junior Gard ner contest for growing petunias and tomatoes and would announce the winners as soon as the children them selves bad been notified It was decided to the winners with a cup or suitable trophy at the next public meeting A letter of thanks Is to be sent to Sheridan series who donated the planters tor the village The red and white petunias did well and are still quite pretty They hope to have more planters placed In the village next year The committee are looking into Welcome to Norval signs and street signs The Welcome to Norval signs would have to be place on private property as the High do not allow signs on their property The committee discussed better maintenance of the grass along the highway through the village with the Highway Dept and hope this can be done next year George Smith Mrs Joyce Hutton and Jamie Cunningham with Bob Crawford Ichalrman are the Beautlflcation committee Julian Reed reported that renting the school for recreational purposes Is at a dead end between the Halton Hills Council and the School Board at the present time but he s hopeful that a meeting with all concerned to talk the situation over will reach a satisfactory settlement The meeting
