two seminar out of town Lloyd Boyd rone service officer J J McCartney and Denny Wright went to Mt Hamilton Branch to a Service Officers seminar Bruce McCartney Norm Ward and Tut Harrison attended an Action seminar in Burlington Many an evening and Sunday Is spent at these and meetings usually out of town we do our best to keep on top of what Is going on This action group Is a new Idea set up by command and Just getting off the ground when I find out more I can fill you In As you know the Service Officers Job Is most Important and here In town Harry Atkinson and Lloyd Boyd are out every week helping a veteran and or their depen dents solve a problem large or small and the vast experience that J J has In this field Is Invaluable to these two men which In turn enables them to serve us better I dldn envy Tut on having to go to a o clock seminar In Burlington a the evening before he was the guest of honor at a Retirement party The party was held by his many many friends from town which In eluded the town of Hilton Hills represented by Mayor Tom Hill Regional municipality represented by Allan Msison employees of the Region The Department of Social and Family Services Acton Burlington Georgetown Milton and Oikvllle Man nice things were said about our small but mighty executive house chairman and some very beautiful gifts were presented from the different present All of Tut a y also attended Denny and Dorothy Wright Norma and Ada Ward Frank and Ileane Nicholson myself from the Branch were happy to attend this most Important evening In Tut a life A most humeroui taped speech from Steamer Em merson was appreciated by all of us Steamer was to have beenMC but due to his Illness this duty fell Into the hands of Vivien former boss of Tut s who did an excellent Job I am sure everyone who knows Tut wishes him well We understand he Is only retiring from one Job to take on another one Winner of the Air Cadet furniture draw was Lou with Ticket No There was a large crowd at the fair which kept the Mi Cadets and all their helpers busy The Air Cadet sponsoring committee would like to thank everyone who helped In any way and to all who supported the Squadron by buying tickets Another Air Cadet Event of great importance will be their dance on Saturday October with Ross Miller supplying the dance music Parents and supporters of the Air Cadets are urged to get a group together and attend forget the Branch Elimination draw this Friday evening dinner Chuck Davles and Bill Hansen are two more name to be added to our sick list I understand they are coming along nicely now Chuck Is home and BUI was In Sun brook Hospital Hope all our sick and shut Ins ore proving rapidly The Ladles Auxiliary is fast approaching dies Just three weeks away Have you given Doris Chamberlain something for her penny table Will you expert Bakers be able to give Jane Klrby something for her bake able How about Jen Emraertons Knitwear and Pat Mc a booth Dorothy Hicks and Marg Innes manage the sewing table Rae has the white elephant booth Edna looking for books ladles Marg Hale has the fish pond to keep the children amused Also Mid Is looking after the advertising Marlon Beattle to going to manage the Touch Joke It looks like a great day Is In store for those that are able to take advantage of our bazaar on Saturday October I seen some very beautiful work done by our members and friends members and know from past bsiaars we ve had that Jane a bake table will prove to be mighty popular Jane says she would like you to save those foam meat trays and cake boxes please Edna Dixon would like more recipes also Sure hope I haven forgotten anyone I hear our ladles did well at Port Credit on Saturday winning top spot In the dart tournament Rita Jan Maureen Johnson and were on the winning team Also Jan and Rita were money winners In a draw Brampton Auxiliary were second followed by Port Credit who were 3rd and Seeing Is Believing and on Friday I was absolutely astounded to See two people stand on our chair In the lounge to get to where they were going rather than move a to get to their own Now really that I not necessary I was pleased to see one of our auxiliary members ap proach a dancer on the floor who had a cigarette In her hand and ask her to leave It at the table Someone could get seriously hurt particularly those that dance In bare feet to say nothing of our new floor getting burned Our Chief Stewart Bob Bums had the very good luck on Thursday post In having a ticket which won him quite a sizeable amount of money In the Lottery In the past few months Boo has sold tickets to several of the members and an auxiliary member who have won lesser amounts Nice going Bob Three of our annual Doubles tournaments are coming up shortly and sports officer Fat Chamberlain has a list up on the Sports Board for those of you who are In to sign your name On Saturday October 11th is tho Trophy for darts Saturday October lath the Tennant trophy for and on Saturday October 2Mb the Hurley Trophy for euchre The tournaments arc open for Members only and check In time Is 1 30 end games will start at pm It Is hoped that these sports event will be
