administration committee meeting It became apparent that its fate will not be soon decided The model bylaw submitted by Fire Chief Ken Bulkema is based on the regulation bylaw on public hall licensing drawn up by the province There are two main pur poses of this bylaw We are 1 111 under the old public hall licensing bylaw and it is a technical requirement under provincial legislation Municipalities have to draw up their own public ball licensing bylaw and that particular statue Is to be dealt with by the municipality explained Chief However Chief pointed out that this is not his main in drawing up the bylaw The main purpose of this bylaw Is to promote life safety for public gatherings When you are dealing with public safety everything has to be considered Councillor Roy Booth agreed that the bylaw Is necessary however sections which he did not agree with when the first model bylaw was proposed were once again questioned by the councillor Looking at this bylaw Its obvious that some of the halls I cant say so much for Acton or some of the surrounding areas but I know for many In Georgetown that they will be illegal If this draft is carried through They would be Illegal by probably a very narrow margin however they still would be Illegal I do agree that we need a bylaw but I Ihlnk we will have to relax on certain parts of It continued Councillor Booth Councillor Booth expressed concern over certain sections such as churches not requiring a licence when they rent out Sections of this bylaw places all responsibility on the tire chiefs This leaves too much discretion on he fire chiefs behalf There Is no reason why the fire chiefs should have so much discretionary power con eluded Councillor Booth Councillor Rick Morrow made the recommendation that the two fire chiefs Chief Ken and Chief C Holmes roach a mutual agreement and together draw up a model bylaw Picket second in Erin show TENDERPADS OF THE PACK Fourteen Ten derpads of the Georgetown Cub and Scout Pack of
