start a practise by myself she said I felt that in an established firm you always have the benefit of the experience of your associates and I consider myself fortunate to have found such a firm Besides I like people too much to be by myself she said with a very warm and sincere smile The kind of law that appeals most to Is very what she Is now law as applied to the family I like the close contact with ray clients and I prefer wcWng in a family court Although the challenge of her profession is very much a part of her life It could never be her whole life with the exclusion of all else beautiful young lawyer who at la definitely on her way to success In every sense of the word An addition to the town that Budokan will move if theres no change If town council refuses to budge on Its decision not to give the Budokan Judo Club exclusive use of the Rose Room at the Georgetown Memorial Arena executives of the cnib are prepared to move the club lock stock and Judo mats The Judo clubs conflict with the town cropped up once again Monday night as executives of the Budokan club met with town council to present what they termed our point of view Their review of the history did Indeed out a few new facta In the muddled case t the councillors who bad heard basically the same story already twice before failed to show any signs of their stance Council has requested the Budokan Club to write a letter to the towns general ad- ministration committee If It contains In formation we havent seen before well look at It once again commented Councillor Morrow If it doesnt well Just receive and flle It President of the Budokan dub Eric Ludlow fitted some new pieces Into the growing Jigsaw punle that the conflict has developed into over the past four years He explained that the club when It was formed poured approximately Into equipping the Rose Room for use as a Judo Because the town did not provide a lease for the dub to one had been agreed some unknown treason the dub decided not to pay rent said Mr Ludlow I admit It was a mistake and one which I cant explain For two and onehalf years the dub continued to use the facilities be continued without paying any rent at all until last September when the towns recreation department presented them with a bill for for past rent We met with Mr Collison and told him that the dub didnt have that kind of money It couldnt pay the rent However we ex plained from that point on we would pay the rent and would pay the remainder over a period of time The next thing the dub knew be recalled was that the town bad decided that It was taking the clubs mats valued at 1000 in lieu the owing rent The club had been Incorrectly played as a profit making private enterprise Mr Ludlow said It never has been Weve always in- tended to be a community club working with the community Replying to a question by Councillor Roy Booth Mr Ludlow did state that be as an Instructor with the dub would be paid by the dub The conflict between town and dub concluded Mr Ludlow lay basically on two problems- ownership of the mats and control of the room We feel we should have the rightatotbematsbesald Wealsofeelwe should have some say as to who uses those His club continued Mr Ludlow did not want total use of the facilities during the week They would be fully willing to allow karate keep fit of tiny tot groups to use the Rose Room Just as they have been doing during the past two years The only stipulation be said would be that a second Judo club not be allowed to use he facilities That would definitely add to the detriment of both dubs be said rJnlpg that different philosophies of training bet ween dubs could pose problems Our club Is an aggressive dub members would be competing throughout the province and the US In a number of Judo meets A second dub that the department was to put In the Rose Room said Mr Ludlow was more Involved on a local level Jack Smith one of the founding members of the Budokan club commented that be understood that the second Judo dub had decided to move from Cedarvale after six years because the rent at the old facilities was going to be raised to the same rate as the Rose Room They felt that if they could get a better facility for the same money why not They decided to move Despite tne new angle to the story some councillors expressed the opinion that they had remained unchanged In their stand I cant change my mind as far as the clubs exclusive rights of the room are concerned said Councillor Dick Council following a very heated debate two weeks ago decided that the Budokan club would hive to share the Rose Room with another Judo club plus give up its mata in payment of the owing In past rent Barring a decision by you town council to change your decision we would request that the S00Q spent by the Budokan dub in renovating the Rose Roam be con sidered In lieu of the We would then request permission to take our mats and establish our dub In another location Mr Ludlow said The general administration committee will reconsider the situation at Its next meeting Monday night CARRIERS OF THE YEAR for the marked across Canada last week Theyre Georgetown Herald are and Mary Community Association that we wouldnt give up on this matter explained Councillor Roy Booth at last weeks general com mittee meeting Mayor Tom Hill who Joined the com mittee for a portion of their meeting stated that he is presently arranging another meeting to discuss the lease terms of School with the Hal ton Board of Education At a special meeting held September with Mayor Tom Hill representatives from the Halton Board of Educationthe Norval Community Association and the towns general administration committee present a figure of per month as rental on the property was quoted by the school board However It was strongly believed by the town and Norval representatives that this figure was much too high The board baaed the cost on a percentage of the lands value at a commercial valuation The property as it now stands la toned as institutional and would have to be rexoned the town to bring it up to the classification that would earn the asked for by the school board At the general administration committee meeting Mayor Kill agreed with Councillor Booth did the other councillors present that the town will continue negotiations with the school board hopes of more
