ins ion Is requested and granted for these hunters and that everyone takes the time and shows the courtesy to ask before going on someones land to hunt All of these men by the way had rabbits in possession The Holton Hills Fire Department had a good This was their first try at a turkey shoot the the acceptance these Into the turkey shooting circuit There were shoots of sixteen shooters each and there was always a large group of men standing around watching the contests Brian Fyfe who was one of the organizers of the shoot tells me that some signed up for all shoots right from the start shots were fired not counting the shoot where two or more tied with the same score An example was Ernie and Ron Challenger with Ron taking it on the shoot off However took another shoot and got his bird out of that round I didnt get on invito to dinner yet but Im waiting Some other winners were Dune Robinson Bill Barber Doug Logon Lee and a few others One of them I wont say who got four turkeys for his ef forts I want to pass on thanks of everyone concerned to Bud Bishop the use of his property for Ihe occasion Without the cooperation of folks like Bud It would be that much more difficult for the organizers of these events Things got underway at m and the rain got underway at about However the went until about six and on behalf of the Halton Hills Fire Fighters thanks to all who took come to taking pictures and whether you take a thousand dollars worth of gear around your neck like I do the tremendous little Instsatics think before you buy What will fit your needs mm cameras of course ore tops on the list as ley will carry well and are rugged Using transparency film for slides or print film Is your choice but slides are fraction of the cost teems to have the best lenses although this will be debated is popular but I have been using a hat cost me f with a standard lens and a telephoto lens of 139 mm and have had some of these published and use others for slide shows If the question of what lenses to buy comes up I would a standard SO or mm lhat comes with most cameras plus a mm wide angle for those shots In boats and cabins etc A tele can be hand held with care I will always be glad to help anyone with the selection of a camera for themselves or as a gift Just call and get in on the fun of photographing ONTABIO OUTDOORS Moores and Tom Simpson Back row left to when the going gets rough In a hockey game It la experience that pays off In the clinches and particularly during play off games the right move at precisely the right time or real heads up hockey will determine the victor I A hockey players who Is labelled smart or a heads up type of a player Is one who has gained considerable knowledge of the game and combines It with his own abilities There la a tremndoua amount involved in really learning the game of hockey and this learning can only take place actual ex perience Actual playing experience Is even more valuable when it occurs In various leagues and various diversified locations during the career From the league In a boys hometown to Junior rep teams and for some the big leagues a players total overall record is often noticeable In his actual play The Georgetown Raider hockey team Is extremely fortunate In being able to obtain players with a tremendous wealth of ex perience If you were to add up the total number of years of experience of all the players Im sure youd have a three- digit figure Not only is the number impressive but more notable is where the experience was obtained The Raider team has players with provincial national and even In ternational experience Ill outline some of their histories Tor you to show to you that what js no Tom hockey profile Is extremely Impressive Tom played with it- Mikes College In Junior and then for the University of Michigan From there Tom played Tulsa Phoenix and Cleveland He also played for the NHL in Minnesota and before joining the Raiders he experienced Senior A hockey In Orilllfl and Brentford Paul Burger also has an impressive record From Junior hockey in Dixie Paul moved up to Junior A experience In St Catharines A real highlight In his hockey career whls twoyear stint with with the TUburg Trappers In Holland George Grigors hockey career has also led to In experience George played Junior A hockey with the Toronto and Senior A hockey with the Barrio Flyers He was an Canadas National Team and played international hockey In Austria for one year Mike Mahoneys entire record wss not available but be undoubtedly gained valuable experience during ha eleven year period with the Herahey Bears of the American League Various players on the team have not had the International experience that the above have had but heir are Just as impressive In their own right For example BUI Wheeler moved from Junior hockey In raps Kitchener to Junior hockey In Bill also moved to Senior A hockey in and be moved out to the Eastern Pro league In New Jersey Rick went through the from the Midgets in Woodbridge to the Junior 8 league in Brampton and then to the team of Western University In London Hat trick Patrick Moloney has experienced hockey in the various league la Brampton then with the Snaggers and the University of Ray Peacock has already experienced Midget and Juvenile hockey right here In Georgetown and Junior C hockey In Acton Now A hockey is real experience for all these players The experience la being a Raider isnt easy to Jim Ron Burnett Ben Unifier Rudy Mike Sam Wo Id rum Gary Scully Mia Doug Foraflan Hunt BIN borough Morliy Norrli Cord Peterson leads Geminis scoring The Georgetown of the Central Ontario Junior hockey league have released team statistics up to and Including the teams Sunday night win In Bramp ton Two players Larry Peterson and Doug Barnes have figured prominently In the team scoring while at least six other players are credited with ten or more points With goals Peterson is rolling along at a clip and this Is remarkable considering he is one of the most highly regarded defence men in the league He la not puck happy cither as witness his IS assists and he leads the in scoring with points Doug Barnes can in no way be described as a classy hockey player yet he Is the kind that most coaches would dearly love to have on their team Barney is not con cerned about style merely getting the Job done and his IS goals and 15 assists good for points bears out his rationale the season heads Into Its second half however the scoring efforts of the will have to be spread out more evenly if the team hopes to challenge for the league lead This has been occurring over the past several games and bodes well for the teoms playoff aspirations For a time It looked like the Kills Mens Basketball Assocallon would not be operating this season The reasons for this were varied but for the most part It was the attitude of several players during the waning weeks of last years season that was creating the dilemma As the various teams moved into the playoffs lost year the play got noticeably rougher and the abuse of officials was getting out of hand At one point the pair of officials that had handled the bulk of the leagues games simply refused to take any more nonsense and handed In their notice to the league In order to round out season other officials were taken on but they were not of the same calibre as the earlier officials and the problems were merely manifested Play got even rougher and the new found officials were subject to even more haranguing The league had been set up to provide an outlet for the male adults In the community who wanted to play basketball asa form of exercise In a spirit of friendly competition Things started out in this vein but eventually deteriorted to the point where the un fortunate seasonending situation cropped up After much soul searching the men who were in strumental In forming the league decided to give It another go this year but with the clear landing that the league would adhere closely to its Ideals Certain players nave been told that they are not wanted In the league and the executive members have gone to some pains to attract top notch of flclals The shenanigans that oc curred last year will not bo tolerated and this can only make for a stronger league and similarly assure its sue cess In the future The league will once again operate with six teams with each team sorting a roster of ten players Aa noted by the various rosters players are still being sought The entry fee for prospective players has not yet been decided upon but It is expected to run to roughly uniform top and the balance of the monies collected through the fees will go to the paying of officials The league plays three games every Thursday night at the gym and It Is expected that regular season action will continue until mid- March The playoff format has the top four teams taking part first versus fourth and second versus third This years executive Includes Mike Marshall Jim Coetigan Brian Cosgrovc Pete Walker and Fred Harris Further in formation concerning the league can be obtained by contacting Mike Marshall at Teams have been
