The branch had two teams entered In A team with Jack Grieve Bob and Harold team had Tommy Harlow Sam Art and Our team placed and will be going on to district shortly Congratulations to Tom Sam Art and To our A team better luck in the next event you enter Wo have bridge players off to St Catharines this Saturday Good luck fellows Bridge players are Williams Frank Martin Mike Lorossc Duke Wilson 2nd team Earl Emond Jim Sargent Walter and George Sargent The auxiliary ladles fared much better In crib and euchre In In crib they placed 1st 2nd 3rd and Can do any better than that can they team were first with and Barb Burns A team were second with jean Reid and Bemice C team came 3rd with Jan Emmerson and Hazel Dumper and team hod Bub and Rao Ausland Congratulations girls you have done very well indeed In euchre we had A team place 1st and this happy learn consisted May Tost Vi Hewitt Floss Tracy and Pearl Wilson Nice going team and congratulations to you also Erin were 2nd Brampton 3rd and Acton were low This past Saturday out was not to go on further but an Inner zone day with one auxiliary having to win twice another auxiliary won a previous outing if a third auxiliary wins the next time around the three winning teams wilt have a playoff They compete again In March It was only a mater of a few weeks ago the auxiliary went to Part Credit and carte first in darts so the auxiliary arc not taking a back seat to anyone This coming week he auxiliary ladies will be up at Georgetown Bowl Lanes when they will be competing against the other ten auxiliaries In the zone for top honours and the right to go on to regional Our Branch members will be off to Bronte again Feb 28th and this time to compete in euchre and we wish both the ladles of the auxiliary and the branch members the best of luck Friday night entertainment the lounge was enjoyed by those present and why it be enjoyable as we had George and Bryan on piano and drums Saturday was Boots spinning records and for your dancing pleasure next Friday and Saturday we have George and Bryan back with us and With their help we got out of debt earlier than without there help and are helping us out of debt while we make repairs to the branch and keep making Improvements new tables up stairs and carpeting on the landing and stairs With the Imperials a hard working section of our branch that must be branch members first before they ore Imperial Members never stop doing going or working When one goal is reached they begin on another When they put their minds to doing something you can bet it will be done and usually In less lime then they anticipate They re less than in membership yet pitches in and docs their share whether its entertaining organizing working behind the bar selling tickets etc They all give their fair share towards their objective And Jimmy the arrow entertaining We hope to see you out and how about bringing a couple along with you particularly If they ore eligible to join the branch of if they hove never been In the lounge before It worm comfortable pleasant friendly entertaining chance to dance sing If you so desire meet new friends talk with old friends prices are reasonable don have to drive very far so what more you could ask Up stairs on Saturday Feb beginning at bells we will have that Fantastic Foursome The Group of to entertain The group consists of two guys and two gals and they sing and play and arc most entertaining and I know you will have the time of your life If you come and join us The musicians can only do so much It takes you and I to make up a party so come on along and help make It a more terrific evening We 11 be looking for you It lsn all just fun and games at our you know The Branch Auxiliary and Imperial Section work plushavee good time while doing so The branch for Instance donate hundreds and hundreds of dollars to the town through Red Cross Cancer donations to organizations sports groups hospital North Hal ton Association for the Mentally Retarded give to all youth activities Air Cadets soceor Baseball Team etc To name but a few The auxiliary work at catering weddings bazaars rummage sales etc making money for their needs and giving the remainder to the executive and branch just recently to use where they feel Is necessary when they put on a party for themselves or put on a fund raising project that they open to the public you can be sure its first rate functions la to look after our veteran and or their depen dents can This Is the objective of nil legions all branches This is one service that we leave In the capable hands of J J Lloyd Boyd and Harry Atkinson is our Zone Service Officer and works hand In glove with Lloyd and Harry This service Is performed not only tor Branch 120 members and their dependants but for all veterans member or not and their families In March Gene our Provincial Service Officer wilt be in our branch to talk to any one who needs advice help or whatcver and if you feel can lie helped It please call Lloyd Boyd at or Harry Atkinson at and they will be very pleased to help you or set up an appointment with Mr Traversey Perhaps a phone call will set your mind at ease So you sec while we have a good time for ourselves we also think of others and If you would like to be a part of our very un que organization and you have the become a member call membership chairman Tom Elliott or speak lo one of our executive or friendly bar stewards and we will help you We offer a busy friendly active branch cards TV darts lounge and pleasant with folks of your own age a place to drop when the chance arises lo legions also Be and feel port of a feeling of belonging which when we reach the golden years means a lot There is a mighty fine auxiliary for the ladles to Join If inqulit It So there are many reasons why you should come down to the branch and see for yourself just what goes on Our lounge is gorgeous and there again the the auxiliary can take further pride In thornselves as they were a tremendous help In the furnishings as were the Imperial Section with their donation of that lovely banquette We have lady members In the branch and would like have more How about it The mail man just arrived with a letter from friends Jimmy and Kay Davidson who left a months ago to live In Trenton and they asked us to say hello to their friends In town and at the legion They arc fine and pretty well settled In their new surroundings and two I for Christmas They say it sounds like we have more snow then them and 1 wan t dispute the fact as I think we have more snow than most anyone They would like to hear from any of you who have lime to write and would love to see you if you are down that woy In your travels It Plctou Landing Trenton S Box will reach them Jim has renewed his membership in Br 120 Pearce and Norma Porter and family arc sunning themselves and golfing in the climates Florida Ed and Morg have returned from a lovely holiday to Puerto and Ilnlph has had a grand and glorious trip southern California and Is looking forward to a return trip I don blame him Happy to sec our birthday boy Sam CUby out on Friday celebrating this birthday Sam spent several weeks in Georgetown Hospital Also in Georgetown Hospital Is Hay Forsythc and Art Stamp has been to see him Gone into Toronto Western Hospital again Is Steve Hlllicr and If anyone goes in that way how about offering a ride to Miller so con visit Steve Bud Hill has had an operation and is resting up in room of the Toonto General Hospital Greetings to Jimmy Murphy Wylie ft at Milton Manor and all our sick and shut ins Tom Clarke Jr is going in Georgetown Hospital this Thursday In the column last week we mentioned the names of W 1 member veterans that we could think of to go to Port Credit or a special dinner and thanks lo friends Doll and Nick Carter they gave us two more we had missed Fred Weaver and Frank Smith and along with them we have added the name of Ray For sylhe We hope Ray will be out of hospital be then and able to attend Are there any more Please give us a call if you can think any Occasslonolly the border you try to think of names the more they Jane Klrby who Is starting up the second unit in the Georgetown Home making Club says that they will be starling with their Touch of Stltchery In a weeks time The Ladies Auxiliary sponsored the previous Bakingwllh Yeast It was a tremendous success Jane is accepting applications now and may be called at 877 If you have a daughter niece or granddaughter or friend 12years of to that may be inieresled Theclasswlllbe on Mondays from 7 lo and I know several of the young girls who Joined the unit lost and besides the good time they had baking they enjoyed meeting new girls and becoming
