The show, titled Just a Moment, features the work of a young Oshawa artist who paints with pig- ment or charcoal using only his finger. I use only one toolmy index finger, said Olexander Wlasenko of his work, in an artist state- ment. I manually rub the pig- ment or charcoal into the surface of the paper. Two sessions of the 2011 Guitar Workshop Plus program took place from mid to the end of July at Appleby College. Students came to the program from Oakville and beyond, including from the international program. Their instructors included founding member of Canadian rock band Triumph, Rik Emmett; guitarist Steve Val; six-time Grammy Award-nominee Mike Stern; the late Michael Jacksons lead guitarist during his This Is It con- cert series, Orianthi; bassist Dave LaRue; Austin blues-rocker David Grissom, drummer Vito Rezza and many more. The school, offering one-week long programs in Oakville and Vancouver each summer, is designed for aspiring musicians of all ages. The Vancouver session runs next week. It offers some- thing to hobbyists, those pursuing careers in music, as well as semi-pro and pro musicians. The programs have now been offered for 14 years.
