Infrastructure Ontario and Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) announced late last week that the company, Hospital Infrastructure Partners, has signed a fixed-price contact to design, build, finance and main- tain the new Oakville hospital. The announcement signifies that all contractual steps have been completed and construc- tion will start this month, begin- ning with work on the site ser- vices. The project is expected to be complete by summer of 2015. We are thrilled to have reached this milestone and look forward to moving forward with Hospital Infrastructure Partners, said John Oliver, HHS president and CEO. We are committed to build- ing a new, modern healthcare facility, which will enhance the high-quality programs and ser- vices we provide to the commu- nity. Our design team has devel- oped a truly patient-centred envi- ronment that will use the latest advances in technology and pro- vide the highest standard of care and services for our patients and their families. The project will absolutely transform hospital healthcare services in Oakville and the region. Hospital Infrastructure Partners was selected for the job back in June with officials stating they submitted a proposal that delivered the best value for Ontario taxpayers, including the lowest cost. The hospital project is expect- ed to create significant opportu- nities for suppliers and contrac- tors in the Halton Region and the Greater Toronto Area. At the peak of construction, Hospital Infrastructure Partners estimates more than 1,100 work- ers will be on the site daily. This is a momentous occa- sion for healthcare in Oakville. With the contract now complete, our vision of a state-of-the-art hospital will soon begin to take shape and become a reality, said Oakville MPP Kevin Flynn.
