Dr. Robert Williams has been hired as the consultant on this project. As a result of population growth, Oakville's existing wards vary significantly in population and in the number of electors. Projected growth, particularly in north Oakville, will increase the current discrepancies. A ward boundary review The Town of Oakville's Budget Committee has, for the fourth time, selected Town and Regional Councillor Tom Adams as the chair of the 2012 Budget Committee. "I'm excited for the opportunity to continue chairing the town's Budget Committee," said Adams, in a Town release. "As we have done in previous years, this year's budgetary process will engage the public to ensure we continue to deliver high quality pro- grams and services that are valued by the com- munity and are fiscally responsible." This is Adams' fourth year as budget chair. He holds an MBA from McMaster University and is a former senior risk manager to a major Canadian financial institution. "Council's budget process is in the best hands possible with the MBA skill set and banking experience of Councillor Adams," said Mayor Rob Burton . As its first order of business, the Budget Committee received the 2012 budget directions and 2013 and 2014 budget forecast. The 2012 budget documents will be released in early November. Staff is working on depart- mental budgets over this summer. Council's 2011-2014 Strategic Plan and results from the 2011 Citizen Survey will help guide the process. The Budget Committee will hold both formal and informal public consultation meetings this fall. The 2012 budget is scheduled to be approved by Council in December 2011. Visit the council calendar for up-to-date meeting schedules. Oakville is reviewing its municipal ward boundaries gAdams to head bud et committee is both timely and important to local democra- cy in Oakville, according to a Town release. The input of residents is sought and resi- dents are encouraged to submit comments to wardboundary@oakville.ca to be included in the public consultation process. In addition to the public input email, public information meetings will take place on: Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m., Committee Rooms 1 and 2, Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., Committee Rooms 1 and 2, Town Hall Based on the input received, a preliminary report addressing ward boundary options will be presented to the Administrative Services Committee on Nov. 15. Further consultation and public meetings will be held early in 2012 and a final report and recommendations presented to Council after those meetings. Oakville's current six ward system has been in place since 1990. Two councillors are elected in each ward, one local, and one local and regional who serves on both town and regional council. A history of ward boundary reviews is available through the Clerk's department. 31 DUNDAS ST. E.
