Like the road course he was racing on, there were many ups and downs for James Hinchcliffe in Sundays IndyCar race. After being forced off the track and dropping to the back of the pack on the first lap of the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, Hinchcliffe worked his way back through the field and with the help of some good pit strategy, took the lead on Lap 27. While other cars pitted, Hinchcliffe moved to the front of the field and passed Danica Patrick on the restart to take the lead for the first time in his IndyCar career. Because of the early pit stop, Hinchcliffe had to conserve fuel but still managed to hold off Dixon and Dario Franchitti for 26 laps. After the day we had, its unfortu- nate because the guys did such a good job. The car was obviously phenome- nal, Hinchcliffe said. I can deal with failures, I can deal with being taken out, but my own personal mistakes are the toughest thing to deal with. Hinchcliffe is ranked 17th in the overall point standings with 185.
