THE June HIT district news and social notes By DOROTHY McLEAN Herald The Annual pot luck supper of Women Institute was held at the home of Mrs Edna Murray on Thursday evening June 2nd The usual bountUul supper enjoyed after which Mrs Edna Murray presided for the meeting The roll call was answered by handing In the various programs for the next year Mra Glen Campbell Milton District President of theWI was the guest speaker and on Public Relations She said that we must have a goal or purpose and should try to live by our W I motto She urged all members to start a House Log This Is a history of the house you live In with pictures and a copy of the deeds etc showing any changes during the years Mrs Campbell showed the House Log that she has started of her own home Mrs fna Terry reported on the District Annual meeting held in Georgetown recently She also drew our attention to an item in the Dally Times Brampton about Self Defence for Women that can be taught In several lessons It was decided to see this could be given in the fall School Com mi Mrs Kay Wilson reported that she had presented a shield on behalf of the I at the North Creative and Performing Arta Festival re- There will be no meetings during July and August Gall Harrison left on May I51h for a 3 months tour of Europe She started by visiting friends Chelsea England Amsterdam Holland to start her tour of the other European countries by visiting the var lous Youth Hostels She plans to tour the Youth Hostels for months then return to England for a month of visiting with relatives and friends Gall Is the daughter or Mr and Mrs John Harrison of Castle Norval who won the Golden Age Bowl competitions for this rcg ion then competed for the Ontario Championship at Wat that competition also Besides the trophy she has won a free trip to toon for days near the end of June where she will compete for the Canadian champion ship of the Golden Age Bow There will be days of bowling and one day of sight seeing Mrs Castle bowls with the Georgetown group We hope that she will return with the Canadian Championship from Saskatoon Mr and Mrs James Laldlaw entertained the members of their family a dinner their home on Wed June 1st celebrate Ihclr wedding There were family members present for the din ncr which included their sons and their wives and families Lloyd and Ella of Norval Roy and and Ralph and Glcnda of all ten grandchildren and their great grandson Clayton of Acton The family of Mr and Mrs Clifford T Hunter Georgetown honored their parents on the occasion of their wedding anniversary with an Open at the Norval School Commun Centre on Tuesday evening May their mothers and leaders pre- They enjoyed a pot luck buffet supper and during the evening presented retiring leaders with gifts Shirley Johnson Tawny Owl Stephenson Snowy Owl The Ladies Auxiliary held short meeting and nominated their executive for the next year with Joanne president The Brownies enjoyed a ure hike on the Bruce Trail recently and held a Litter Chase through the village on May which Included cleaning up around the Cam Centre following the fireworks display They are planning a trip to the Zoo to end their activities
