HERALD Wednesday March 1179 This is Levys last tournament Nothing would please Har ry Levy more than to go out as the chairman of the Georgetown International Bantam Tournament the way he came in In 1907 Harry Levy was the cochairman of he ment He worked with Fred Harrison It was Levys first year at the helm That was the year the Georgetown Bantams went all the way and took the tourney championship If all goes as planned this will be Levys last year as the events chairman Levy is training members of the Lions Club to take over the responsibility of organizing the next love being so involved with the tournament Levy said But after 14 years it time to move over and give somebody else a chance ADVISOR NEXTYEAR Levy will be involved with the tourney next year Mem bers of the Lions celation was a struggle Levy says he will miss his heavy involvement but he adds after 14 years Its This year there will be Ifl teams competing in the division of the Georgetown Bantam Tournament As us teams In all four divisions Chairman Harry Levy said that 16 is the maximum number of teams he allows in one division Last year there were 11 teams in each division Levy said that he has the max mum number of B teams because they were the first to reply There are some very strong teams in the B division The Georgetown Stationery Bantams will of course be attempting to win it all in and then move on to take a shot at winning the overall title Last years champion club Belleville is back and they as usual should be very Levy he seriously considered moving Belleville up to the A division but decided in the end to keep them in In he same draw as Georgetown ore Brockville Pickering and Huron East and Ihcy should all be form foes However the other half of the draw may be tougher Richmond Hi St Thomas and Whitby will be the other teams besides Bel leville trying get to the division title game from that side Each of those teams is very tough On the other side of the B division pool are on Woodstock Milton Port Hu ron The toughest team on that time move on and set more involved in other inter ests The chairman first became Involved with the tournam ent as a member of the Kinsmen Club At that time the Kinsmen ran entertain ment features for the visiting young hockey players The Lions Club move take over the running of the tournament actually began last year when they ran small facets governing the 1979 International Banlam Tournament from the ones used for last year event The 10 rules listed below were added after consultation between he tournament referees and the tournaments executive committee Play will bo governed by Ontario Minor Hockey Association rules and Tournament Sanction with the following provisions 1 The tournament will be conducted on an elimination basis Competing teams drawn against one another will total goals for the right to advance to the next round except the Grand Championship Mill he Hi minute slop time period basis 3 In the event of lies on the round 5 minute overtime periods will be plated with teams changing ends every minutes until first goal is scored 4 The rand Championship game will on a minute time period basis If a tie exists at the end of regulation time in the Grand Championship game ten minute overtime periods shall be played with teams changing ends every ten minutes until the first goal Is scored breaking tic and deciding the winner Fifteen players shall be allowed to dress for each game plus goalies who shall play In goal only Every players must be equipped to ihe referees satisfaction Helmets with chin straps fastened proper skate heel guards arc both a must Goal tenders must also wear face masks to the referees satisfaction team may supply a man to act in the iTjo desired In all games the referees decisions are final 10 Any team not dressed and ready to play at their scheduled lime MAY BE penalized at the discretion of the tournament committee If possible all teams should carry alternate
