was chosen from five high school students who applied for the exchange trip Club members interviewed all applicants she says and has known for a couple of weeks that she was the chosen student although her destlna wont be known for a while yet The club gave her a list of countries Japan Sweden Belgium Finland Norway New Zealand Australia Denmark South Africa The Philippines Brazil and Mexico and she must chose three to which she would like to be sent Applications are then sent to those three countries on her behalf and she will go to the first one sending back a positive response says she will base her choice on things like whether a new language is involved how far away the country is and whether she may ever get there on her own later If all things go well she expects to leave for her year overseas In August Acton Rotary Club president Ken said the district selection committee will meet March 11 to decide on candl dates chosen to go overseas and until that time Denlses selection is not official While he has every hope she will be Included in the August group it Is possible to have a arise over finding a club In the country of her choice In that case she might have to wall for the January group The Acton club Is hosting its second Rotary exchange student Jennifer of Australia In selecting an exchange student the club looks at the students adapllbillty and personality as well as acade mic ability Mr Grubbesald The matter of the familys ability to bear the financial burden of sending a student overseas also had to be considered since It Is not a scholarship program but rather a cultural exchange he says Take a course in Hills this spring The University of Waterloo will pres ent three courses in Hills this spring and youre invited to attend the classes You can attend the lec tures free of charge simply for per sonal interest or you may register and take them for university credit The Literature of Ontario will look at such writers as Stephen Leacock and Margaret Educational Psychology will ex amine the classroom factors that in fluence the effectiveness of learning Family Therapy will focus on the treatment of family problems
