while Park and Joseph Gibbons tied for fourth place honors ATOM GIRLS In the Atom girls race Beth Young was the first place finisher representing Joseph Gibbons school Following her was Cove from Park facilities the tourney went on at the High School with the annual cross country meet at Overseen by Pat Johnston Mr and Mrs Bill and myself the day was organ zed by Carole Johnston Penny Hack Martin Warner Peter Sm edema and Sean Mcquarne Six BantamJunior Teams of four boys and four girls took part In a two section round robin one day tournament winding down to a final championship game Soccer Aces Rowdies Leeds Liver pool and Rangers contested the day The first games opened in contrast Aces tied Rowdies whilst Rangers Liverpool Rowdies followed with a three goal win over as Leeds took the field and hovered over Aces The next series took Rangers over Leeds and Liverpool were downed by Aces made their second tie and point In a 1 1 tic with Rangers whilst Rowdies returned to the eld winning over Aces and Leeds dropped a decision to Rowdies who remained undcfeitcd at this point Also undefeated were Ranger who trounced Liverpool at last on track walloped pointless Leeds Liverpool s last chance to make Ihc semi finals in a narrow loss to Aces Rowdies suffered their first loss to unbeaten Rangers now favourites to go all the way Leeds chance to make the semi final stages failed with a I loss In the first semi final Rangers victim As the tournament became more exciting ran out easy 61 winners over Aces lo set up the closing Coal match Rowdies and Rangers set to end to end with the Rowdies single goal enough to seem them champions for A of IB goals came the girls A highly successful day on the field was followed by a similarly successful dunce for the youths at
