me to fill With that testimonial to his predecessor Michael Furlong who retired last June after many years In town new principal Don Baker launched his first commencement exer cises at Georgetown District High School Saturday While friends family and faculty filled the school Grade 12 and students accepted their graduation diplomas At times that graduation objective might have appeared vague Mr Baker said but you are here today and that diploma should make you feel good Among the graduating class es labout ISOstudents received Grade 13 honor diplomas while the balance were Grade 12 graduates there was the high schools usual outstanding number of Ontario scholars this year Trevironus work at earned her three scholarships including an Ontario Scholarship present ed by the provinces ministry of education to students with an BO per cent or better average In six Grade credits and four awards Referring to the Love Georgetown promotion Mr Baker said the graduating reflect much or the spirit of that summer cam standing for those values which show concern for the values of others Mr Baker also praised the mutual caring and respect students and teachers share at the of perseverance by the staff and fellow students have given the the tools and self- confidence to go on Valedictorian James Allans brief it lighthearted address recalled card games with a coach and cowering under desks during a chemistry class again emphasizing the closeness students and GDHS apparently enjoy Among the graduates honored at Georgetown and High Schools commencement Saturday a half And throughout the high school band performed sporting handsome new deep blue An unexpected presentation during the ceremony which was followed by a banquet for the graduates and their guests saw long time GDHS teacher John Todd receive the Kent Memorial Award After three years of failing to choose what it considers a worthy recipient the schools student council chose to Mr Todds efforts in promoting extracurricular activities Grade 12 student Jeonnette Brown was chosen to receive the Hills Herald Award which annually recognizes a student of commercial subjects who has entered the
