SECTION A THE HERALD Wednesday November 11 Acton Hi 1981 commencement had two valedictorians Hugs and kisses for 159 AHS graduates By Herald Hugs kisses and handshakes were exchanged as young people climbed onstage to receive their graduation diplomas from teachers at High School Friday night There were 120 secondary school graduation diplomas given out of them honors diplomas in the school as proud parents watched The school band sporting red sweaters with two white bands on the sleeve played as graduates filed In Excitement was In the air as graduating students greeted friends they seen or a few months A welcome from principal Betty Moore opened the program It was an Important night for the graduating students and Mrs Moore reminded them that ultimately they are each responsible for themselves Seven students received Ontario scholarships Tammy Lance Alton Catherine Cavlovic Laurie Early Vincent Lee Julie Pierce and Steve scholarships were won by Vlnce Lee and Cavtovic both of whom won other awards as well For first ever at Acton High there were two valedictorians Paula Remember the funny times they ribbed their teachers and their peers Viceprincipal MrfJiren gave the closing remarks saying the group was unique not only because they drove out two principals during their five years at the school but because their first year at the high school was also the opening
