SECTION C THE HERALD Wednesday December IMl Figure Skating Club competes in Barrie for Ontario Sectionals A number of skaters from the Georgetown Figure Skat ing recently ravelled lo the Central Ontario Sectional Competition In Barrie None of our skaters were fortunate enough to go to Divisional however but the hard work and long hours of dedication In preparing for this competition is to be highly commended Attending the Subsections level In the Divis ion were and Leah Smeaton This year level had a free- skating round and those not placing in the first six of each flight of which there were four were auto matically out This eliminated them from the next round of figures and The first to be eliminated was Debra Doug good shot missed two of her elements a double flip and double finished a disappointing Leah had an good free skating program and placed in her flight enabling her to move on to the second round In Figures and Leah then placed Leah did a super lob all round and her consistently good skating paid off You had again to be in the first six to go Sectionals and to miss by one spat is tough to take Congratulations Leah on a fine effort It was then off tor Klrsten Mogg to compete In the Junior Ladles Division After figures Klrsten placed In her short In this part of the program only one attempt each element Is allowed leaving no room for error In the long free
