sectionals Last summer Darren was accepted to a twoweek skating seminar in London Ontario For a year Darren has been coached by at the Toronto Cricket club where he practises every day for almost three hours was the coach of former Junior Canadian champ and current Georgetown instruct or Nancy Dowdfng In tho Scarborough Skate competition he beat Mark who placed fourth in Canada at the national figureskating championships last March Darren goals are to prepare for the Novice sectionals and compete in the Canadian national figureskating championships Novice under 16 Is the first category in which skaters can compete at the national level To reach his goals he would need to attain fourth or better at the sectionals next winter Eventually Darren would like to advance to the senior men level and compete nationally The grade 10 student says his mother Valeric and his father Owen have supported him tremend In his committment to skating Darren has also had to make sacrifices such as giving up afterschool activities and other sports such as hockey which ho once played But as he says I be skating if I enjoy It all the time What Darren likes roost about skate competitions is the
