concern TriCounty Is the league that were in and really how we end up In has no bearing on what we do at Ontario Minor Hockey Association playoffs qualification Our ultimate goal Is to get an OMHA champion and thats our concern Is building exception teams to go on to But overall the rep teams are doing quite well Weve had very very few problems with coaching staff theyve spent a lot of time a lot of effort Their efforts are going to help us gain at least more than two qualifier that we had last year I hope we have at least live or sis qualifiers The Herald abwrt the Tier tar as overall performance li coo John It has been very good as well We have been able to ice all the age groups Midget Bantam Novice which is more than you can say for some of other centres And theyre all very competitive especial ly with a Major Burlington learn in group I feel that its unfortunate that we dont have minor Tier teams because these boys that are playing Major Tier now will really have nowhere to go next year other than the exceptional ones They play one year of competit ive hockey then other than the exceptional ones they go back to house league hockey Somewhere along the line If we can gel more ice and if the other centres agree well attempt to get minor teams or at least get two Tier learns for each age group so the boy who Is In the second level of play has somewhere to go other than house league The Herald far as bottle leagu goes there anything In that area thai has changed drastically from last year Anything thai standi oat In your mind as being a surprise to you In the res coming your respoMlbUilyT John Chantler Im impressed with the numbers of the teams Im Impressed with the dedication of the JOHN CHANTLER commissioners The commissioners are the ones that police house league they watch for equal ice lime they watch for flagrant violation by the players they look after sweaters thai sort of thing These commissioners hold a very responsible Job and they are certainly willing to spend the time Im Impressed with that Im Impressed with the attitude of a lot of coaches who go out and get a lot of ice for practising which Is very tough to get for house league boys The level of discipline Is the older age groups In house league Im a little disappointed with Throughout house league there appears to be some lack of respect for the administrative people the referees that sort of thing Bui overall think we have a very good house league and I think our development program has been quite good Judging from our tykenovice system and the fact that we do have fairly competitive Novice rep teams And thats totally due to the House League system The Herald How has hockey changed since yon were a youngster John Chantler Well first of all equipment has
