season was a discouraging one for the Acton Sabres reflected in the turnout at the annual Acton Sabres Awards Banquet lust Saturday night at the Acton Legion a little dlsappoln ted about the way things turned out for the team this year said Sabres president Frank but I very dlsappoln ted at the showing of hockey players here tonight This banquet Is for hockey players now something may have to be given up next season because of the money put out for dinners for people who did not show up The banquet was to be attended by 175 people but only 50 were present Small trophies were awarded to some of the team rookies comme morating their first goal hat trick or shutout The Bill Campbell Me morial Trophy for the most points was present ed to Bob I was ecstatic said Boldt He travelled from Chicago to attend the banquet unaware that tie had won the trophy Rookie Mike was honored as the most Improved player The Lady Gerlh Trophy was presented to Ken Knvanagh while rookie of the year Rick received the Marshall Trophy The Basil iFuzzy Mellon Trophy for the best graduate from minor hockey was presented by Sieve dent of the minor hockey association to Randy Covcrdalc Randy Smith won the battled their way to first place finishes at the annual Centcnnl Wrestling Tournament at Centennial Middle School on the weekend Murphy and both Grade 7 pupils were among eight wrestlers on the member Ccnlennl a I team that placed in the top four in their weight division The host team accumulated HI points good enough for fourth overall among the eight teams attending the tourney Sir Ernest MacMillan of Scarborough captured the team title with 153 points The next three teams Including second place St Benedicts of Cambridge and or Doyle also Cam bridge finished within four points of each
