Annual spring fashion show By WINIFRED SMITH Herald Correspondent The Annual Spring fashion show sponsored by the United Church Women was a special event in the village this put week and one we look forward to It was held In the Community Centre on Wednesday evening April The Centre was beau tlfuliy decorated Tobies were set up along each side and on the platform of the Hall They looked attractive with the white cloth Each table was centred with a vase of spring flowers Six ladles seated around each table by they were all occupied Delicious home baked desserts were served along with tea and coffee With refreshments over It was time for the show to begin Joyce Clarke president of the welcomed all to the third annual show Betty Mori champ from Frills was on hand to comment on he ladies clothing Henderson represented J V Clothing for the Beauti ful hand made clothes were displayed on the children they were from Erin Rosemary Rey commented as they were modeled by the youngsters Local residents did the modeling There were adult ladies teen agers and thbyear they had the children boys and girls some quite tiny tots All did a wonderful Job except one little fellow who showed more Interest In playing with his balloon then walking Just soso up the ramp Spectators thought the show very entertaining and exciting To add to the excite ment of the evening many local business people donated door priz es Mary Kay and Helen representing Mary Kay cosmetics were on hand They were kept busy seeing that each model looked her best as she appeared on the scene The group of ladles from the C have worked hard for this special event and are to be congratulated The generosity of those who donated door prises was very much appreciated With every one taking an Interest It turned out to be a successful and enjoyable event A happy occasion took place In the neighborhood on Friday evening of last week at the home of Mr and Mrs Grant Wright It was In the form of a presentation to a life long resident of the Eighth line Mr A D AD sold his farm and recently moved to his property on the Seventh Line The first part of the evening was spent in friendly chitchat talking over old times Around p Grant Wright announced that the pur pose of this gettogether was to pay tribute to a fellow a long time neigh bor and highly respected person AD McEnery Grant then called on Winnie Smith to say a few words on behalf of those present Garnet Sinclair assist Grant In presenting AD with a padded De Lux patio chair AD responded by saying he would never forget his good neighbors and the years he spent among them and thanked all very sincerely for those involved with getting up the party and to every one who attended Old school pictures were passed around A delicious lunch was and a pleasant evening came to a close Mrs Pat Kerr was the organist for the Church service on Sunday She also accompanied Bob on the piano as be favored with a solo Anniversary service will be held next Sunday at Church Rev J Davidson from St Johns United Church Georgetown will be the guest speaker St Andrew a have cancelled their service of Worship In town so they can join the congrega tion The time
