said this exper ience helped them explain the program to other parents One of the frustrations for prospective parents Is that there is no time frame attached to adopt ing When you are preg nant you at least know when the end Is near Mrs McLean says When the McLeans work on a home study and it is completed some times they cant find a child and the process Is delayed Mr McLean says The McLeans write up homo studies of potential parents look for suitable children and evaluate a match during the six month probationary per iod A home study consists of four Interviews with prospective parents Can didates are asked quest- Ions about their health lifestyle financial stabil ity and anything you can think about that afreets child Mr McLean says Babies arc easy to place and therefore older children are more readily available to parents the McLeans say Sometimes it can take years Tor the trust to develop between an adopted child and his new parens Mr McLean says In some situations It can be a big lifestyle change for parents who are considering children for the first time Many take a parenting course offered by CAS Mr McLean says The McLeans have liv ed in Georgetown for IS years Bom
