the group have had a busy spring Several workshops have been held covering many aspects of musical theatre namely product- Ion management and administration chorus acting makeup lighting techniques and coming up soon the final workshop for the season will cover costume design This particularly inter esting workshop la plann ed for June Satur day and will be held at the Rebecca Hall Georgetown job That was more than three years ago and the former Acton resident Is now ready for his first art His portraits sketches and till Ism drawings are going to be shown at the Hills Library and Cultural Centre In Georgetown from June IS to 30 DOUG GRIFFIN You have a hard time anywhere getting your pictures shown if youre not known he said A number of private galleri es charge an artist for the privilege of having their works shown Mr Griffin Is not entire ly new to the local art scene In the last two Juried art shows at the Brampton Museum and Art Gallery his work was featured and he also exhi bited his art in the CarllngOKeefc Festival of the Arts in 1961 No one Is more sur prised at his talents than Mr Griffin himself He used to be a dispatcher for Trucking and would find he was still tense after a day s Rural images Regionally acclaimed photographer Arthur is having an exhibition of over forty of his prints at the Ontario Agricultural Museum The show entitled Rural Relics will include several of his prints from the National Archives of Canada Collection Mr employs special high contrast techniques to produce photographs with such amazing clarity that they appear more gel the dots in varying sizes and he uses ink straight from an Ink well He also admits to going through a lot of nibs His drawings often take to hours to complete and Tor this reason he usually draws from photographs The human counten ance in its wide range of expressions and concrete items hold much more interest for Mr Griffin that scenic landscapes His work Is quite detail and one pen and ink drawing of a mouse seems to have every hair drawn in His portraits are equally detailed I trying to express more feeling In my work so that when a person looks at It they get a feeling a mood he said When youre doing a portrait you want to get that Inside awareness His three year old daughter Stephanie Is one of his favorite sub jects She has an added significance because her birth coincided with
