duals who also distributed these The petitions and accompanying literature were printed for us by Holy Cross Parish with special effort on the part of lay pastoral assistant Winston Robinson Holy Cross Parish also a special thanks for the signatures they contributed to our pell Lion lists Funding for our clip Mad mall coupons came from Holy Cross Catholic Women League Knights of Columbus University Women Club and St Johns United Church Many thanks to these groups Thanks also to the Halt on Board of Education for their letter of support to Mark MacGulgan Mini of Justice Thanks go also was also placed on socialization and oppor tunitles to go beyond the home To accomplish this a seven member team of parents was formed In November Participation House in Mark ham Ontario opened lis door to the severely physically disabled On June I was given the opportunity to meet some of the residents In their home away from home Anne Pahl director informed me that here are permanent residents and eight temporary for assessment While this was meant to be a home Tor as long as they choose to stay this stimulating environment encourages all phases of development with the result a few residents moved to lighter care facilities and semi independence Admission is restricted to those IS years and older Suitability state of health social development and needs of the resident are just a few of the factors considered before acceptance on a threemonth assessment period Contact with society at large seems to be the key to growth Residents are encouraged to take outings while the public is Invited to use the home facilities freely without charge A large attractive general purpose room with stage Is used for meetings activities entertainment public and club gatherings A smaller room also for public use provides much the same on a reduced scale In addition to space for hobbies and a computer The pool provides therapy else and socialization Outsiders may use the pool if mended by a
