and humiliation than Ibe one that accompanies the golfer who shanks that tint drive for seemingly all the world to see Even seasoned competitors like Rob Brown reel the pressure Brown fast becoming one of the best young golfers In the province at the tender age of IT talks candidly about the Intensity of tournament golf He Is deadly serious about his game but because he 17 he can still muster a gnn when he recalls soma of his less masterful strokes from days gone by When I fret started playing In touma Just getting off the first tee was enough pressure Brown admits There always a lot of people watching and you just want to hit a good shot When you really shank one you Just try to not look at anybody Brown doesn t shank them too often He recently strung together scores of and lo capture the North Coif and Country Club Junior championship for golfers under the age of When I first playing In getting of the first tee was enough pressure There always a lot of people watching and you want to hit a good shot When you really thank one yon try not look at anybody ROB BROWN Winning his club title is one more step for Brown towards his premier goal which is to parlay his golf skills Into a scholarship at a major American university He had already taken one large strike towards that target earlier in the Ontario Junior championship In Midland Realistically he need to finish in the lop five next summer he wants that scholarship but the Georgetown District High School Grade 13 student feels that is a reasonable possibility His reasoning Is simple enough Most of the golfers who finished ahead of him this year were IB They be gone next summer I was hoping to finish In the top this year but I was hitting the ball everywhere Brown says I really could have played much better Brown will get plenty of opportunity to work on cutting strokes from his game because he works at the North Halton club He fixes and cleans golf clubs and cleans golf carts and he manages to find time for la holes every day Another reason Brown wilt likely improve enough to reach the top five la his attitude He considers himself a student of the game and he always looking for that little something that will give him an edge He might pick up a pointer playing with someone else or watching golf on television Even the proa are still learning about the game Brown says I always trying to pick up something new I II try anything I like to watch others and Imitate them Itsamatterofseeingwhattheydo and working It Into your own style In the end It may still come down to Brown a ability to perform in the clutch Putt for dough and all that You dont count on anybody else Just yourself he explains If I blow It there is nobody else to blame You just can think about what happens If you miss an Important shot You don think about the consequences If you blow It you Just try not to look at anybody Jr tryonts begin Gem rooks graduate to main camp Nineteen rookies have graduated to the arrived fresh from a victory over Burlington and they came out looking strong against George town Once again the Falcons were missing vital and limy struggled to find their form for the first minutes of this game Fortunately the Georgetown defence played a strong game and bought enough time Tor reshuffled mid field to settle down and gradually gain control from the Brampton mid field players Rob had been pulled back from his usual attacking role to strengthen the a shaky start he soon settled down and turned In a fine performance for the home side As In their previous game wllh it was both defences that dominated the game and Bearing chances were few Georgetown were happy to have Tim Davis back In the line up especially so at the 30mlnute mark when he went on one of his typical overlapping runs and crossed a beautiful ball to ever eager Eric Clark who had timed his run to perfection and scored his best goal so far this season A fow minutes later scored an equally fine goal but the referee disallowed II as one of the George town players was deem ed offside Brampton came out looking strong again after half time but they came up against a solid wall of defence as Georgetown back four held their ground and Pete Jones in the Falcons goal handled anything that came his way The Falcons should have had a couple of goals extra at this stage of game as Allen Clark and Faulk all had ties to finish off the Brampton challenge Georgetown were In full control by now and It looked as though they had finally put things to rest 10 minutes from the end when Gary bert curled a free kick over the Brampton wall only to watch it hit the bar after goalkeeper was beaten Brampton round some extra strength and put In a final effort In the hope of taking back a point but
