three easy victor the past week Last Saturday the Campers easily defeat ed a weak team The absence of Bill and Andrew was barely noticeable as Alan and Doug Kent led the way with five points each followed by Adam Bennett with Sport bants take three four Doug and Mike WlUdns collec ted three points while Chris and Steven Sutherland two points a piece Singles were earned by Cam Herman Brent and Travis Gardiner The shutout was shared by Sean Cotton and Curtis Green Back on home ice Thursday evening against Georgetown Sport Camp came out on top in a poorly played game Mike and RAIDERS OF THE DENNIS LAWRENCE Herald correspondent In the first Battle of the Hills the George town Gemini knocked off the Acton Sabres In Central Ontario Junior Hockey League ploy Friday in Acton The game was a rough one as there was a total of minutes in penalties plus six game ducts Acton got on the board first early In the open ing period when Mike converted a pass from Ken Kava nagh and John Turner Up to point the play was very fast as the teams took urns putting pressure on one anoth er After the Sabres goal penalties ed the period Georgetown tied the game at on a power play goal when Terry West scored one of his three on the night on passes from Chris Pea voy and Bill Bathgate Acton recaptured the lead on their own power play goal off the stick of Vince Poridiso assisted by Kavanagh and Karl Meyer heading Into the dressing room Early In the second period Georgetown tied the game at when Bathgate scored on passes from Bob and and then took the lead for good when West scored his second goal of the night on a short handed effort earned the assist Play then became very rough when two fights broke out and four players were ejected Bathgate put the Cents up by two when he netted his second of the night unassisted Ploy then became wide open and key saves by Wayne Cowley kept George town up by two Terry West got his on a power play goal assisted by Bath gate and Dave Georgetown went up by four goals on another power play this time by Peavoy assisted by Dave Douce I te and Mrk Hamilton Acton managed to get one back when Randy Coverdale rifled a shot Cowley with a little tip from Kavanagh and Meyer the period ended with Georgetown leading by a score The third period seemed to be the end for the Sa as Fred was thrown out for fight ing very early The first couple of minutes saw very chippy play up until the goal by Cord McArthur assisted by Dave Doucette and Purple gals win again By SUE DUNNING Herald The Georgetown or girls hockey team took their scnd win of the season by downing the visiting Oakvtll team Georgetown goaltend- Joan Gilmer once again displayed her superior ability in net as she was shelled by shots throughout the gome Oak lie opened the scoring early in the first period but Georgetown Storm to assist ed by Claire McDowell scored at the 18 mark In the second frame the Georgetown girls con tinued to press hard scoring more un answered goals DeneanJoncs scooped up a loose puck In front of the net to put George town ahead 21 on a power play marker With four minutes re maining Allen tacked on her second goal for the night and a minute later Allen assisted Taylor on a low hard shot from the blue line rounding out the local scoring The final period remained score less as the girls got solid backup from goalie Gil mer ending the same with attwln This year the Senior Girls Hockey League includes one team from Georgetown and Milton and two teams from Brent Smith which gave Georgetown a 7 2 lead The goal seemed to take the wind out of the Sabres sails as they started to give the away mora than In the first two frames Georgetown scored again when West netted another goal from John Hodgson and Peavoy The Gems then rounded off the scoring on yet another power play goal this time from Kent Falby from end Hodgson The final five minutes of the game were very rough as it seemed the players were only out there to hit the other team Sabres coach Gary Hudson said We were outplayed In the second and third periods and The next home game for the Sabres is Saturday ni ght when they tackle the Burlington Cougars Sunday the Sports got a pair of goals and two assists from Terry Dixon on their way to a 1 decision over Rob Cooper also counted a pair of goals and he also earn ed an assist on Dixons first of the night Tim Bennett Paul Smith and Kenne dy all tallied once for the locals while Jeff earned three leg as the Sports down ed Oakville Kennedy Shawn Finn Jim Manning Mark Zebedee and Cooper all found the range for Georgetown with
