League bald its annual meeting last week Of primary importance on the agenda was the election of new officers for tbe league executive Martin Hardcastle stepping down after three distinguished years as president passed the reigns of power Into the capable hands of Jim Lindsay Well known throughout the league and a top notch receiver and cornroast organizer Lindsay is a fine choice for the presidency Backing up Lindsay will be Doug as vicepresident It seems appropriate that one of tbe most prominent and supportive flag football families has one of their number on the executive Tbe unsung heroes of tbe executive David McCarthy as secretary and Steve Harris as treasurer will remain in those positions contributing valuable experience for arduous job of statistician will be shared by Bon Woodhama and next year It will take two people to fill the enormous pair of shoes left behind by departing press relations officer Tim To I ton has retired to a rest home In Fort Lauderdale Don Scallen and Paul Wilson will assume his former duties Martin will still be involved In the operation of the league in 1964 but In the lessdemanding position of social director He will be assisted by George In this task George will also remain In the post of head referee It is hoped that these responsibilities do not prevent George from fulfilling his other Important responsibility cooking the cer Club coaches and managers last week a wide range of topics were discussed pertain Ing to problems during the season and possible so lutions The discussions rang ed from facilities to trophies and playoffs to coaching clinics Many excellent suggest ions on those topics were received from floor and will form the basis of the executives actions for next season It became very evid ent during the discuss ions however that most of the problems stem from lack of volunteers on the administrative side of the club During 1963 only half of the on the Board of had been fil led and with 1000 players ved In soccer smooth operation of the club became Impossible The same situation to a lesser degree existed with coaches managers and commissioners Some teams started the season without a coach
