to MTHL Herald correspondent The Georgetown North Ha I ton Sports Camp split two games played last week In County hockey action at home Tuesday Georgetown easily defeated Brampton This game started with excellent play by the home side taking a lead in the second period Unfortunately the boys then lost con centra lion against the Brampton team allowing them to fight back to within one The five goals against told the story as very poor clearing by the defence shaky goal- tending and a total lack of work on backcheck lng by the forwards combined for the poorest defensive effort In some time were here for a family swim and Mlcha el was doing some things on he diving board he t have been doing the older Bowers recalled Ha mother told him to get off the board and take some proper diving lessons so he could learn the sport properly Bowers competes In three disciplines including the one and three meter spring board and platform or tower diving Not sur prisingly he has more difficulty executing the higher up he goes All divers have to deal with an element of fear Bowers explains com paring his sport to sky diving The first dives are so scary but you get a lot of support from your correspondent The Georgetown District High School swim team dominated an Invitational meet at McMaster University of Hamilton on Saturday winning by closo to 200 points Twentyono schools from all over Ontario attended the meet There were close lo swimmers competing The competition con slated of 2S events Georgetown placed competitors In the top three finishers in most of the events In the Junior girls medley relay Tiffany Tericca Whlttney Grig and Sylvia placed third Karen Pepper Anna Erin Videos blanked The Georgetown and H Video A atoms found it tough going against a pair of AA entries this week dropping a 41 count to Orangeville and a decision Jeff Wright scored the lone Georgetown goal in the loss to from Stephen Wright Marc St Pierre turned in a strong effort In the Georgetown net and Debbie Newman placed first in the senior medley The junior and senior boys also placed first In their medley relay These teams consisted of Jim Chris Christian Wasserman and Jason The senior boys were MacDonald Erin Mclntyre and Susan Masson placed first Many of the boys also placed in Individual events In the 200 free style Steven MacLeod placed first In the SO meter and meter butterfly Don came second Rick Walterson won the 100 meter free stroke while Diederick Millenaar placed third also came second In the SO meter free MUllngtca placed first in the meter back stroke Steven MacLeod came to second In the back stroke event Mike Haisall Jason Dodokln Christian and Jim Millingun combined to win the Junior free style Seniors Christian Book Don Die Millenaar and Rick came In first In their free style relay In another relay Derek Bridge Pete Carson Jon Morwick and Carber Goodlet placed third We ve been at three Invitational meets so far this season explained coach Tom Adams In the first two we placed second This time we were first so we arc steadily improving This Indicates that we are beginning to race Our swimmers are beginning to understand what It takes to win a race They are
