SECTION THE HERALD Jan Chrysler novices lose final at Bracebridge tournament By DOUG FULLER Herald correspondent The Georgetown Chrysler novice AA quad travelled to last week end to play in the South Muskoka Minor Hockey Tournament The Chryslers first game was against the Hamilton Huskies AAA team Even though they came out on the short end a ft- 1 score it was the closest any of the towns came to the AAA Huskies as they won the rest of their on their way to the championship Randy Bond got the lone Georgetown goal as he banged in a perfect goalmouth pass from Greg MacLelsh Steve Boyle who started the play also drew an assist In the consolation final Chryslers faced the host Brace bridge team Exciting endtoend hockey was what the fans were trea ted to in this one After goal pouncing on a rebound of a David Rlvard shot Randy Bond also assisted on the play Bracebridge took a lead early in the second period on what turned out to be the winning Georgetown was to most of the play the rest of the game but couldnt cash In they did everything but tie the game Steve Melykuty Troy period of play the Schirk Todd Puller and teams were deadlocked Duane all missed at 11 Greg MacLelsh notched the Chryslers score the equalizer Coach was able to remove goalie for an extra attacker in the last minute However a cheap tripping penalty with less than three minutes left stymied our as the George town Gemini doubled the Acton Sabres in the two teams final regular season Central Ontario Jr B Hockey meeting Wednesday night The Gems werent going that hot last Saturday when the Sabres defeated them said Georgetown coach Jules Tonight they came through and showed a little desire Russian said They showed a lot of heart and asm to win They feel they don t have to work hard against Acton said Russian In explaining Saturdays loss but they the Sabres arent a bad hockey club On the other band Sabre coach Steve Buchanan criticized his own team for being less than enthusiastic Thev beat themselv es tonight he said They showed no guts no desire If you don nave the will to win you wont The Sabres not skating poorly or pass ing sloppily just demonstrated a lot of early in the game when he converted on a pass from Gord McArthur and Peter The Sabres replied two minute later with a powerplay goal at the 312 mark Ken nagh won a faceoff in exGemini Roy Spears fired puck past Cowley from the edge of the faceoff circle Nine seconds later Georgetown Kevin Frank put Gems ahead again with the help of Terry West and Dave Douccttc Georgetown gained a twogoal margin at the mark on a power play goal from who came up the left wing and beat Landry Mike instigated the play But Georgetown was up 31 for only one minute as the Sabres rallied to tie the game up with two recently In Bur lington by the George town Chateau minor bantam AA team Unfortunately the Georgetown squad came up losers In that game but It took a goal in the list seconds of tbe game la give Bur lington tbe victory by a score of The hockey was ex citing throughout the whole game with fast endtoend volleys and superb passing and by both teams Brian Mcllravey had to be sharp In net and came up with a solid performance Goal scorers were Alain Danny Lane on a breakaway and Ken Langdon all three being Caps nip Mustangs in GLBL action Barbara Curry downed a teamhigh points to lead the Capricorns to a narrow WW victory over the Mustangs In Georgetown Ladies Basketball League action last Wednesday night at Centennial School Irene contributed points to tbe Capricorn attack Buutman was the top Mustang shooter with IS points Henderson connected for 11 more points in a losing effort In other action the Trojans easily disposed of the Cougars Anita bit the hoop for points to lead the winners Lorraine Brown and Janice both clowned ID points June Nicholson and were good for eight each for the Cougars The next game against four days later proved to be a much more bruising game for
