to the GO bus service through Acton and the GO train service from George town as offering fine transportation for Mr Miller said people using GO buses must transfer if they want to reach downtown Tor onto and Ihis confuses some people especially the elderly At the very least It Is inconvenient and time consuming While the train vice is excellent In both those respects It ales only in the morning and evening rather than throughout the day which may suit ters but it is of little use to others Mr Miller also point ed out getting the GO train in Georgetown could be a problem for some potential users and argued if the trains ran hourly from George town as they do In the service would be fine He said the Ion base Is not there In Acton to merit having a tram stop there Millersald We feel for the five minutes of in convenience now the service could turn out to be very profitable one VIA said it would consider the proposal and meet the group gain Thcrefusal was given at the second meeting native Arkansas in 1952 to pursue a career in music said in an interview the govern could stand to make a lot of money If it did chip in and help performers Its foolish that they are not helping them expenses for two Acton minor hockey teams trip to Norway to play exhibition games there this winter Mr Hawkins said he has seen a lot of talented people in Canada who flounder because of a lack of money Quite the results are predictable The reason far the British explosion is be cause there they have people who back music Inns It no secret that it takes money to make it I have seen more Anne and Gordon in Canada than you know but what can I do for them tragedy of It all is that when they get older they quit and be come bitter However Mr Hawk Ins does feel the Cana dian music scene is imp roving It used to be that Canadians would not hire Canadians At least now things are belter Hawkins learned his music trade early in life His father fam was musically ted and he learned the art or the blues from someone who knew It well My dad was a barb er and he had a black shoe shine who played the blues and I would go around back and pract ise with him Hock and roll has changed a lot In the 30 years and todays mus ore a reason why Back in the old days rock and roll was bar blues stuff Today It is more refined The musi cians are coming from places like School of Music In New York city dots not en Joy financial any more A sour business deal has left him heavily in debt But Hawkins does re tain a sense of humor above it all The only thing as hot rock and roll today Is the fighting in Iran and Iraq LEAVING Im going to be leav ing Canada and head to the S so I can make more money How long will I stay I dont know If I get what I want 1 only have to play once he chuckles But what I want and what I get are two different things Back in the early 50s Hawkins had a road crew member by the name of Peter Thats the same who owns the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League He called mo
