Wilkes has sent in an application to the Ontario Amateur Soft ball Association to have this years Inter mediate A champion ship tournament played here He wont have a definite answer until May but should have some sort of Idea about his chances when the meets later this month The OASA has formal ly received Wilkes application and has been In contact with him for further information The information they sought concerned the number of ball diamonds and hotels present In the Georgetown has never had something like this which is in our favor because they like to spread it tour nament around Wilkes said The tournament will consist of eight teams representing different zones in the province Each team will have had to win their zone to qualify If accepted the tour nament would be played here in September The format would consist of a doubleelimination event that would start on a Saturday morning and wrap up with the championship game the Sunday Wilkes approached the OASA about DAN RALPH Herald Sport Editor Georgetown appointment of lost years coach and general manager for the upcoming season has resulted in the resignation of a member of the team executive Shortly after being elected secretary Karen Harrison submitted her resignation to president Dave after the Central Ontario Junior B League teams election of officers meeting Wednesday The meeting was held at the McOlbbon Hotel Harrison resigned because the executive decided to return coach Jules Russianl and general manager Bob Webster for the season In their respective capacities Harrison had put forward a motion that Ihe Geminls advertise the two positions J The motion was discussed then voted on The majority of the 12 voting executive members said no lo the motion although by what margin was unknown as the ballots were destroyed before public tabulation could be done There was no mention as to what the margin was After the first vote Ihe executive then voted in favor having Russianl and Webster return to Ihe posts they held last season This time the voting was made public as eight voted in favor three voted against while one ballot was blank I cannot support the coach and general manager who were voted In Harrison said after 1 dont feet the coach got support from his players and I dont feel Ihe general manager Is fair to some of his players Harrison said her motion was forwarded so if people were interested In the Jobs they could find out they existed There might be some fine people who can do a good Job but how do you know They dont come knocking on your door she said President said he would not comment on the situation until ha has talked with Harrison Harrison added her decision was final Webster was not surprised at the motion but added he was a little taken back by the
