made by Mr Barry Page In his letter to local newspapers and the Mayor of Hills Mr Page called the meeting at which council selected the architect for the Town Hall project socalled In camera This meeting WAS in camera and was because not one councillor including the chairman Sheldon advised they wished it to be otherwise Mr Page only after the selection was made In an vote did one councillor object to the meeting be ing in camera I call that type of grandstanding dirty pool Perhaps some people think that one can breach confidentiality by crying after the fact that the meeting should not have been in camera can assure Mr Page that councillors KNOW that their first duty is to their taxpayers However breach of trust Is never in the taxpayers best in terests because it can easily become indiscriminate thus causing lawsuits strikes by employees loss of excellent staff and improper land deals Even more If councillors can not be candid on private and con matters when attending In camera sessions council may not get all information needed to proper ly represent their taxpayers To take other peoples private words from private sessions Into open is despicable Fair ball to express your opinions but not fair ball to beyond that point More Important ly when confidentiality is breached the person breaching It could be tell ing lies and no one can clear the mat without further breaching of con Letter to the editor Mr Page accused council of character assassination I can assure Mr Page I have never at tended a private meeting of council at which anyone character has been assassinated or impugned Someone has given this misinforms tion to Mr Page It is not only false but incredibly malicious and hurtful Mr Page states that there are slow learners on council and that we should get on
