their first road victory of the season last week in Ontario Hockey Association Central Senior B play and did not stop there collecting a tie on the road as well Tavistock last Monday and dumped the home side Then Friday in Harrlston they tied the hometown Blues In Tavistock Ihe Royals jumped into a quick lead as Doug converted Brian Demone pass after Just seconds of play to give Hillsburgh a 10 lead Just three minutes later George Osborne scored first of three markers and then at of the first period Kelly Sine blasted a long shot past Tavistock Larry McKay Peter Hyde took over in the cage for McKay at this point but fared on ly slightly better as found the net before the first period con cluded Hillsburgh scored six second period tollies including two while short handed off the sticks of Lance Doucette with a pair Glenn Murray John Barnes Doug MacLean and Sine with his second of the night Tavistock responded with three goals In the second and one in the third frame led by Joe Scherers two goals and one assist Barnes who had a strong game for collected six assists Midgets go on scoring binge with 81 win over Burlington A much improved Sunny Acre Farms Major Midget team came away from Burlington on Sunday with an Impressive victory The first period was a bit of a struggle for the locals as they went down after the first three minutes but held that score into the second period where it was story Their first goal came only 50 seconds into the period with an unassisted goal from Doug Kent There was no stopping the team from then on The second goal came from Bill Tutt the Hillsburgh net while McKay and Hyde faced 33 shots for Tavistock Friday Hillsburgh came from behind to salvage the threeall tie trailing 31 with eight minutes re maining in the game Glenn Murray scored on the power play to narrow the margin to 33 Murray then set up Herb Kewley alone In front of the goal with only left on the clock and Kewley beat Blues goalie Steve to tie the score Brad Miller was spectacular in the Royals net turning aside 3a of the game The Royals managed shots on Lelth trailed after the first period as Jeff Bender of Har riston scored but tied the game on the Minister of Tourism and Recreation Hugh Neil Sprinter Ben Johnson has been named Ontario Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive year wheelchair athlete Ron took top honors as Ontario Disabled
