have been stilled and the team has reverted to business usual with coach Bennett at the helm The quiet follows a storm that crested Thursday night when Ben resigned from his position as coach of the Major Bantams at a I meeting of players parents and the coaching staff Bennett was backing a stand he had made at the Georgetown Inter national Bantam Hockey Tourna ment after what he considered a poor showing by the team He at their downfall to the absence of players away on holidays for the March break and supported a decision by the team that those players would be given limited Icetime at the allOntario AA Bantam championships be ing hosted here In April I was very determined that J would not come back Bennett said of his resignation Thursday Over the next two days I baa many supportive calls to the house were very supportive But something happened in those few days to make Bennett recon aider his position The turning point was when I beard some of the boys would not play In the tournament if I wasnt behind the bench he said I couldnt let that happen A lot of people have worked too hard to make this tournament the success Im sure it will be Who logs the most in the provincial championship games will be determined by on ice per formance and who shows the greatest motivation Bennett says Its based on who I think will do The team held one at their usual early morning practices Sunday and Indications suggest the matter has already been them The opening few minutes of the practice were tentative according to Bennett but the session turned into one of the best workouts they have had We do have good practices and the players put out a lot more to day Sunday he said There was a lot of effort there and It was a very Intense practice At the meeting Thursday Ben nett says the players gave a good account of themselves and may even have surprised some of the parents with the way they presented themselves And hes confident they II have nothing other
