Easter weekend and came up with an ex cel lent effort The Georgetown squad made It to the championship game of Ihe C Division before bowing Caledon A total of teams took part in the tournament with of those teams comprising the C Division In their tournament opener Georgetown was on top of their game against Milverton and both teams came up with strong efforts and had excellent scoring op- port unities Georgetown opened the scoring In the second period as Deacon Jones scored a marker assisted by Joan Osborne The score remained 10 until the late going when Milverton pulled their goalie In favor of an extra at tacker With a minute to go Georgetowns Monlka Majtalerz round the open net to up the count and Osborne held on to earn the shutout Again Georgetown put together a aolio game In their second outing playing above the calibre they had shown all season Against Tavistock their checking and team play was excellent as they went on to a victory The first period remained scoreless and with only five seconds remaining on the clock flipped a backhand shot past Ihe Tavistock to give Georgetown the win After receiving a bye to the cham pionship game Georgetown came up against baseball open ed its regular season at the beginn ing of April a month ahead of the Georgetown Juvenile Eagles the local Juveniles were actually mak ing serious preparations for their 1868 season two months prior Back in January Eagles ranging In age from 17 to is-years- began regular workout sessions in the high school gym By getting an early jump on the season the team hopes to get a good start when they take to the field for and was a major reason the Eagles missed the playoffs even though they put together 15 wins In their final games The added benefit of an early start will also prepare the team for a tour nament Ihey have entered And the way things are shaping up the team is not only confident they can do well In the tournament but they are also optimistic they can claim an Ontario A championship primary aim though says coach Boyd Is to win the Ontario elimination aeries In early July and the Canadian champion ship in August Coach Hoddinott feels that by put ting together a
