Young Parents Program Showing kids we care A new program to support preg teens and young parents will begin next month In the Georgetown area The Young Parents Program funded by the Ministry of Com muni ty and Social Services Is a branch of The Open Door Youth Centre It hopes to provide the support that the extended family once supplied in our grandparents day The Young Parents Program for those between the ages of 15 and will operate on Mondays and Fridays from a Ipm with lunch provided at St Andrew On i led Church Mountain view Road South comer of Sinclair and Mountain view Monday a programs wilt be Just for the moms Chlldcare will be pro vided while the moms enjoy the op portunity to make new friends talk about their interests and concerns about their community vices plan for their futures and have a break from their youngsters Friday mornings will be for both moms and kiddles a special time for them to enjoy creative fun filled hours with their youngsters under the direction of an Early Childhood Education teacher As welt there will be special outings and activities planned according to the group in tercstfl and needs The Young Parents Program will Clothing provide care for babies ploy groups for children a parentchild library clothing exchange home visits peer counselling and referrals lo other community services The entire program including trans Is By JEAN LAYMAN Herald Special Mr Jim Chief Executive of Boy Scouts of Canada made his of tidal visit to Halton Region April Mr Blain was accompanied by Regional Commissioner John Ollivler Regional President Bob Ed wards and Field Executive Larry Adams The day started with a Cable A Interview with Bob Ed wards Following lunch at Jack Tan visits were made to Milton Scout Shop Burlington and District Offices a Beaver Colony meeting and a Scout Meeting The busy day was followed by a dinner and meeting of District presidents commissioners and volunteers held at the Mr Blain also visited the
