Wednesday to learn how Information about AIDS is being taught to students In schools Public health nurse Anne French gave some factual Information on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syn In Halton Region the nurse sold there are two reported cases while nine have died from the disease After giving an overview of AIDS Ma French concentrated on the Iceberg effect For every person known to have AIDS she said a larger portion have the virus without knowing they do and they can pass the virus on to Statistically In Ontario most reported cases of persons with AIDS fall Into the Grant Clatworthy the consultant for physical and health education in the Board of Education talk about the Ministry of Education mandate that AIDS education be compulsory in Ontario schools beginning with the school examples of 19th century Ontario Industrial development cooperated with the present owner to designate It under the Her tage Act and the mill is now be restored with help of a prov nclal grant The Georgetown Lbrary and the old Acton Town Kail are also designated under the Ontar n Heritage Act as properties of historic and architectural LACAC is developing an Inventory of Hills that may be of historic or architectural significance The many old houses factories schools churches bridges barns and other structures will be photographed categorized and indexed and the mater will be made available through the public library for local research LACAC employed a In 1987 to photograph and 1 the older buildings on Ma Street Georgetown quired copies of si of early buildings prepared by Ihe Historical There are still Hundreds of structures to be photographed researched and In expects that it will take several years to complete the inventory Only a few of the in Ihe will be designated under the Ontario Heritage Act as proper ties of historic or arch I tec significance recommended only and the Williams mill or designation in It expects to recommend live properties for designation in 1968 Properties designated under the Ontario Hentage Act for pro perty grants under the Provincial program Preserving Ontario The elements of pro perty that arc of architectural or historic significance arc specified in the by law designating the property The owner is eligible for grants if money Is used to restore the designated elements to their original tlon The grants are a max lmum of per cent of the cost of restoration up to per year Grants arc not made for maintenance The rat of the grant program Is that it costs twice as much to restore and conserve original work as It does
