dominated the agenda for the past week or so First a considerable amount of provincial land has been released for Ontario Ho islng First Policy Sixty six acres of owned land In and Peel has been released to create more housing Tor tow and moderate income earners The announcement was made by Government Services Minister Richard Patten and brings to 157 the number of acres of owned land released for this purpose since April of this year The Mlsissauga and Gueiph sites 19 j acres and 47 acres respective ly will permit he development of up 1250 housing units of which up units will be affordable housing Mr Patten staled that the Govern will work closely with each municipality to develop balanced communities and neighborhoods that people will be proud to live in for yea re to come Describing the Housing First policy as a Government priority Mr Patten said that he and Housing Minister will be making further announcements The government is also making a strong commitment lo the academic development of our young people Education Minister Chns Ward has announced that his Ministry will conduct reviews in reading and mathematics for Grade students during the school year This effort will enable the Ministry to the effectiveness with which ore being taught In On classrooms The reviews will be carried out at 100 English language and 100 French language schools and will be
