motivated enough to sit down and write a letter the editor of the local paper However with the up coming municipal election I felt that I would air my concerns In my Job as General Manager of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce I am required to attend council meetings on a regular basis I have come to know all councillors per sonally and I feel I am very aware or most of Ihe Issues that affect our community It against this background that I offer my unsolicited advice to people considering running for council The job which you ore seeking deals with all facets of life in Hills from the mundane to issues which are so complex that normal lay people have difficulty understanding them let alone voting on them My sugges tion to all potential candidates is to start your Job training NOW not niter the election This can be done in number of ways 1 attend all council committee and public meetings 2 get a mop of Hills and the area You will be asked as a councillor to make dec on all areas of Halton Hills not just your own word And finally you be aware of the senior staff The Job of either local or regional is an important job and one that requires loo per cent effort and as a taxpayer I would like to think that candidate will make themselves aware of whats Involv ed not wait for election day to start learning the Job Also a word to voters if you were hiring someone for a Job you would make sure they were qualified Moke sure your can dldate is qualified to represent your interests I do hope that all eligible voters will make their views and Yours truly DougPeniice
