Georgetown Choral Societys Messiah Noted musicians combine their talents A THE HERALD Wednesday No ember ffUa- The Choral Society Is pleased to be able ihia to engage the vice of several fine musicians to company the choir an they present Handels Messiah as their Christinas gift to the community of Georgetown Clement Caralse is coming back for the second season as organist He Is the resident organist at Islington United Church in Toronto Clement not only performs manic at the con sole but also puts them together working for Casaiant Company as an organ builder After obtaining a degree from MiMaater University and ARTC in organ performance Clement went on to study further in England and South Africa He is a member of the Council of the Royal School of Church Music a member of the Richard HI Society and a member of the Society Clement lives in Toronto with his wife The other members of the or are mode up primarily of freelancers Some play with the Ballet Company and some play for the Canadian Opera Com They do not play together as a group The fact that they can come together with only one rehearsal prior to performance is testament to their professionalism Da via generous support Have a very Merry Christmas Yours very truly Leachate leaking at dump The old landfill site beside the sewage treatment plant in Acton is leaking into Black Creek John MacKuy Hal tons director of waste management said the is fairly weak and it is a relatively small leak but It is bending into the swampy area of Black Creo There is no evidence that the leachate Is adversely affecting Black Crek Judging from samples taken in the area said Mr The dump was operated by the own of Acton and the town of Hills before It was closed In 1774 It accepted only municipal waste and was relatively small said Mr MacKay Is the pal vinous liquid formed by rainwater arid surface water percolating through the waste over the years was no collection system Installed in the dump said Mr MacKay Such a system Is com monplace in landfill sites built in the 1980s Halton ion is no considering installing J leawiate collection system In two phases The first system to be installed in the spring if Regional council gives the project Its blessing will operate much like a bed Soil will be used to absorb the said Mr MacKay The cost of that system la J If that doesnt work will consider landmarks has died Mr Wade who operated the Cor ncr Cupboard Restaurant later to be Stnn moved to Georgetown in 19S3 and was well known us the owner of one of the few restaur mis in Genrnetown at tlie time The down town location made Mr restaurant a popular spot with both and old Henry owner of Henrys Clothing and Custom Tailors says Mr Wade was quiet soft spoken man who ran friendly business He was very kind with his staff and with people in general Mr Mr Wade was also very active in the community the 1950s he was ardent golfer and a shun hoi tier with the North Golf and Country He was a member of the local Lions Club for many years As businessman profits always come first for Mr Sometimes there were people who couldnt be says and he would let them have a free Mr Wade and his wife Iris as well as children worked very hard operating the restaurant often tending to duties from early in the morning until well after the restaurint had closed Mr Mrs Wade had been Stan Wade at a cottage on Lake near Keswick or several years before moving to Toronto for the last year But Mr Wade made several trips back to Georgetown since leaving and according to his son Richard one of his
