volleyball camp despite the fact the team was swept in two straight games at the GHAC final in Milton on Wednesday After routing Lions last Monday at GDHS to claim their fourth consecutive County crown the Rebels met a Georgetown Rebels senior girls volleyball cocaptain Tara Bur roughs shown holding the County championship trophy last Monday Is one of three players graduating from coach Bevin Clarkes 1989 lineup With a strong junior squad moving up next year Clarke said his team could be even better than this years stellar unit tough HamiltonBrebeuf side in the final and according to Georgetown coach Clarke the Rebels were simply outclassed Theyre a very Strong team said Clarke of the Brebeuf squad They were good enough to force us not to play our best smoked the Rebels to the tune of and 157 in the final match after Georgetown had cruis ed to the championship round after sweeping aside in two straight games Theyre a welloiled offensive machine and theyre good defen sively added Clarke continuing on his summation of the team They almost seemed more experienced Indeed reports in dicated that the Hamilton schools senior side has been playing together in high school and at Clarke Meanwhile Clarke is an ticipating an even stronger senior side next season as he loses only three starters Almost the entire Rebel junior team which also won Halton gold on Monday will move up to senior competition and Clarke says it will be tough to decide his starting lineup But its the kind of tough position coaches welcome As much as we were a good team this year we should be even better next year he said Clarke credited the spirit of the Georgetown bench throughout the season for helping his Rebels reach gold and the GHAC final berth We used about seven of 13 girls at GHAC and the rest provid ed a lot of team spirit he said As far as Im concerned thats crucial The Rebel coach also cited his assistant Andreas Schirm for helping develop senior setters and for being Shanna Long and Kyla Burroughs is likely to have a decision or two on her hands when she considers a collegiate future next fall The Grade 13 student has heard college offers from the US as a result
