HERALD OUTLOOK Saturday April 1W Page 3 Homebuyers beware Mayor Miller warns Nobody told me about Fiesta Dance Halton Hills Mayor Miller says buyer beware in speaking about recent home purchases in south Georgetown The mayor was responding to local inquiries from people who have bought from Fernbrook Homes the company constructing homes on Mountainview Road South Fembrook was to meet with developer Enterac Property Cor poration Thursday afternoon to ask for a third registration exten sion If the extension is not approved those who purchased homes from Fernbrook could lose their con tracts and then face increases in prices on the same homes if they choose to repurchase We at least do everything in our power to make the buyer aware said Mayor Miller But he said the problem is widespread You watch television and people are standing there tears running down their faces Purchasers of homes have kept the Town of Hills planning department busy with in quiries for the last few months says Planning Director Ian Keith The Fembrook situation has had a disastrous and negative ef fect on our department said Mr Keith He said the town has received almost 100 telephone calls over the last few months from buyers wan ting to know the status on brook homes The unaware purchaser automatically assumes it must be okay that the builders selling lots must be approved by the town said Coun Joe Hewitt Were going to have to make some determination whether we want builders to sell lots within the town Fernbrook originally planned to construct 236 homes but later found that area water supplies would not support more than homes said Homes president Danny Salvatore Town Administrator Dan Costea said approval for Fernbrook registration which was supposed to occur before April 28 will be delayed well into May He said the town is waiting for a management program and engineering and reviewing blueprints Were reliant on the developers he said GDHS Report by Hello Boys and Girls how has the week been like at How come nobody told me there was going to be a Fiesta Dance last Friday night Am I totally blind to the bold and beautiful posters adorning the great halls of the high school Or is someone out there purposely trying to keep me away Who thought of the title Fiesta anyway From what Ive heard it should have been called a Siesta Dance This coming Monday all you future cooperative education students are supposed to come on out to Gym B on that day and night to check out what all your peers have been doing at their placement for the past two and a half months You will be permitted to ask the godlike coop students and their teachers questions about their knowledge of the career they are interested in and for some of them it isnt the job they have for their coop I dont know about the rest of you but Im certainly not looking forward to spending nine hours on Monday sitting on an ex tremely uncomfortable chair try ing to look like Im having fun So if I seem not too friendly just leave me alone let me drink my free in peace For the said project which con sists of a display and a handout sheet for the interested public I have not yet started it Im still at tempting to find a store in town that sells Paisley bnstol board but to no avail This is the time of year when the student has way too much work to do if heshe even at tempts to try to do it and not enough time to do it in Santa Bar bara and Young and the Restless are so much more important dont you know But we try to keep our teachers smiling Yeah right As of writing I guess those music students who are in Germany are still dancing to the beat of the Bavarian drum Those of us who have remained behind are waiting in breathless anticipation for the Budget Seniors protest closure Several local seniors are against- front of our property wed drop Continued from Page I sumpr A nine per cent will be added on services and every item imaginable except mortgages loans dental and medical ex penses and legal and educational services The consumer will see this tax on the cash register receipt or invoice Psychologically I think the government is shooting itself in the foot said Mr Bulicki He said it doesnt make political sense to charge a tax that people can more readily recognize He said there must be financial gains for the government Mr said the budget plan to cut 8 billion by cancelling a nuclear submarine program and the proposal to shave some of the billion proposed for daycare are easy cuts by the govern ment But Mr said we have to bite the bullet sometime Several local seniors are against- closing of a town road because they say they will have to walk twice as far to mail a letter Maple Avenue resident Bill Edie appeared on behalf of three other seniors at a public meeting Mon day night at the Town of Hills to say that if a 200yard laneway near Stewarttown closes he and the other seniors will have to walk a half mile to get to the Canada Post mailbox near the Georgetown Little Theatre building By closing our road it will make us walk a considerable distance to our mailbox Mr said this week He said it is a good idea to close the laneway but said that the closure would add extra pressure on the seniors who live at his home because he is the only one who drives a car If theyd give us our mailbox in front of our property wed drop all of our arguments he said The is being considered for sale to three residents whose properties abut the laneway The town proposed to sell for plus expenses Town deputy administrator- cierk Delmar French said Mr objections to the road closure will be reviewed at the next town council meeting before a sale can be approved FLORAL Watting Bouquet Amngemtiits FREE Horns Consolation at your convenience by appointment only Margaret and
